2016 PLA WA State Conference
 


The PLA WA State Conference will be held on Thursday 16th with technical tours held on Friday 17th June 2016 at the Fremantle Esplanade Hotel.  The Conference Organising Committee is seeking proposals for single or shared oral presentations, panel presentations, workshops and technical tours on best practise, innovative ideas, emerging trends, research, and case studies across the following themes.

Open Space Planning and Activation

Community and Leisure Facility Planning and Management

Parks and Streetscapes

Sport and Leisure Participation and Development

Arts and Culture

Events and Tourism

Community Development

Leadership

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS HAVE CLOSED. 

GUIDELINES

  • Presenters can submit more than one abstract.
  • Although many presentations use PowerPoint, its use is not a prerequisite. We encourage presenters to use other media such as film, photos, etc.
  • Presentation sessions will have a maximum time allocation of 40 minutes. Presenters are encouraged to allow for and promote discussion, therefore, presentations should be planned for 30 minutes duration with a discussion time of 10 minutes duration.
  • The 40 minute session time will be strictly adhered to.
  • Dual presentations, workshops and panel sessions can be extended to 60 minutes duration.

CONFERENCE ORGANISING COMMITTEE COMMENTS

  • Abstracts with a rural context are especially encouraged.
  • Sessions which incorporate substantial delegate interaction are strongly encouraged.
  • Workshops are encouraged.
  • Technical tours must be within a one hour drive radius of Fremantle.

PRESENTER NOMINATION PROCESS

  • Abstracts must be submitted using the online system or via email plawa@parksleisure.com.au 
  • Acknowledgement of the receipt of abstracts will be made by email.
  • Information required with any abstract submission:
    1. Title of presentation/ workshop
    2. Session type (single presentation, shared presentation, workshop or panel)
    3. Length of session (40 min or 60 min)
    4. Presenter name(s)
    5. Presenter’s position and workplace/ company
    6. Abstract

A summary of 100 – 150 words describing the issue/ presentation. Abstracts will be used in the Conference Program.

SUBMISSION CONDITIONS

  • The invitation to submit an abstract does not constitute an offer to pay travel, accommodation or registration costs associated with the Conference.
  • Speakers will have the option to register and attend the Conference for a reduced rate (speaker rate). Conversely, if a speaker can only be at the Conference for their presentation, no registration fee will be applicable.
