FP7 - FOCUS (Foresight Security Scenarios: Mapping Research to a Comprehensive Approach to Exogenous EU Roles)
FOCUS is a project to help shape European security research to enable the EU to effectively respond to tomorrow’s challenges stemming from the globalization of risks, threats and vulnerabilities. FOCUS concentrates on alternative future EU roles to prevent or respond to incidents situated on the “borderline” between the internal and external dimensions of the security affecting the Union and its citizens. It will do so by elaborating multiple scenarios, based on IT-supported foresight, in the form of alternative futures. These will be plausibility-probed versus mere threat scenarios. The main contribution of FOCUS is to develop an effective long-term foresight and assessment tool at the EU level, populated with the analyses carried out by the project. Moreover, FOCUS will deliver tangible products (such as an IT platform) and contents (i.e., a roadmap) for planning research and deciding on priorities. These products are usable beyond the project.

The 11th ODASCE European Customs Conference

”Does ´Frontier´ mean the same for all of us?”

Lyon Conference Center, France

November 17-18, 2011

http://www.odasce.asso.fr/conference_2011/collgb_accueil.htm

We intend to discuss trade security and trade facilitation, implementation of a single window, self-assessment, centralised clearance, Authorized Economic Operator, mutual recognition agreements, and many other subjects. Do we all mean the same thing by “frontier”? Do we all have the same vision of trade competitiveness and product conformity? For the past 38 years ODASCE has worked to create a constructive dialogue with our traditional guardians of the frontier, our customs partners. We invite you to spend a couple of days in Lyon sharing your points of view on International trade and thus creating, at least a single dialogue even if we cannot yet have a single window
