2017 Professional Sport Facilities Safety & Security Summit

Online registration for this event is not available at this time.

Professional sport facilities are going through a changing event landscape. Traditional stadiums, arenas, tracks, and sporting environments at both the professional and minor league levels are hosting a variety of events at their facilities. Years ago many of these were single event facilities, but not any longer. This will require the development of safety and security best practices that are directed at conducting multiple events.

The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at The University of Southern Mississippi will host the annual Professional Sport Facilities Safety and Security Summit on March 7-9, 2017. The Summit was held at the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS.

The focus of the Summit was to address the key critical safety and security challenges facing professionals who are responsible for conducting multiple types of events at their facilities. Through a formal process, the first edition of a “best practices” guide for professional sport facilities was developed.

The environment and risks/threats surrounding the multiple events hosted at professional sport facilities change and as a result, safety and security personnel, local first responder agencies must have security/safety plan(s) that should be considered a living document. The safety and security staff must be prepared to take advantage of new resources and avoid the development of patterns that could result in a security risk. Continuous improvement should be the standard by which the security and safety planning is reviewed, refreshed and exercised.
