Nailfold Capillaroscopy course

Course outline

A one day course to increase awareness amongst rheumatologists and other musculoskeletal practitioners of recent advances  in capillaroscopy and the increased relevance of capillaroscopy to the rheumatologist given that abnormal capillaroscopy is one of the new 2013 classification criteria for systemic sclerosis.

Course objectives


To increase delegates awareness of recent advances in capillaroscopy

To raise the relevance of capillaroscopy given that abnormal capillaroscopy is one of the 2013 classification criteria for systemic sclerosis

To discuss indications for capillaroscopy and the different methodologies

To allow delegates to perform capillaroscopic examinations with (a) high magnification videocapillaroscopy (b) dermoscopy

To describe the abnormalities which are suggestive of a systemic sclerosis-spectrum disorder

To demonstrate an awareness of application of capillaroscopy in the research setting
Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Who should attend

Rheumatologists, rheumatology trainees, allied health professionals and GPwSIs.

CPD accreditation

The course will be accredited by the Royal College of Physicians. Delegates will receive 6 CPD points for attending the whole day. A CPD certificate will be sent to delegates following the course.
