Maryam Al Subaiey -
Qatari Writer and Entrepreneur.
Founder of UChange Qatari youth initiative and Q Talent company. Created a documentary about women home businesses which was showcased at the ALWANEE (Alliance for women empowerment) 2012 summit in Jordan.

 

Maryam Al Subaiey is a Qatari writer and entrepreneur. She graduated with MSc in Development Studies from SOAS University and is currently running her own talent company.

She was behind the innovation of the new Qatar Television, as she was the Director of Programs and Creation. She published her first collection of Children's books during Doha Book Fair 2011. She also published her poems in "Gathering the Tide: An Anthology of Contemporary Arabian Gulf Poetry" in 2012. Also, in 2009 she co-edited the founder of the 3rd Qatar Narrative book "Dreesha", a photo-essay book that reflects glimpses of Qatar.

Her essay "Qatarization - implementation challenges" won first prize in the Brooking Centre essay competition 2010.
Maryam is the founder of UChange Qatari youth initiative and Q Talent company which supports local talents. Through her company she works on several local projects which promote talent investment in the Creative Industries. Maryam is also an active volunteer with INJAZ and is also a member of ALWANE Alliance for women empowerment. She created a documentary about women home businesses which was showcased at the ALWANEE 2012 summit in Jordan.

Maryam was part of the team who broke the world record by teaching the biggest reading lesson in Arabic in April 2014. Maryam has won the 1st place in “Al-Fikra” competition 2014 in the professional category for her idea Q Talent. Maryam is also co-founder of Qatar Together initiative which encourages youth to achieve the goals of Qatar 2030 vision. She is also a member of Arabian Gulf youth initiative and TOMOUH network for successful youth in the Arabian Gulf.
