London is the capital of England and largest city in the United Kingdom, Home to 8.7 million people and hosting 31.5 million tourists each year, London is a world-leading global historical, cultural and financial city.
The city is located in the south east of the island of Great Britain, on the banks of the River Thames. The 2,000-year-old river harbours much of London's history, as well as providing a backdrop to many of the city’s most iconic sites such as the London Eye, Tower of London and the Houses of Parliament.
London is home to numerous tourist attractions, including four World Heritage Sites, eight Royal Parks, 170 museums which are free of charge to enter and 230 theatres. The capital is renowned for shopping from food markets to luxury department stores.
