CATEGORY CRITERIA

SILVER REGIONAL AWARDS

The judges will be looking for the best real estate investor in a given region. The award will take into account an investor's overall investment approach to the asset class, particularly in the past one to three years. This can include investment activity and strategy changes and implementation.



SILVER THEMED AWARDS 

Core Strategy

Judges will be looking for investment innovation and excellence in institutional-quality, income-producing real estate. Entries can cover global or domestic markets. Winning entries are likely to focus on particularly innovative deals or strategies. Development projects or the repositioning of non-core assets belongs in the Value-Added category.

Debt Strategy

Any forms of real estate debt investment will be eligible for the award, including direct lending, pooled debt funds, non-performing loans and securitised debt. Particularly innovative strategies or first moves into the asset class are likely to score well.

Direct Strategy

This award will be, by nature, restricted to investors with the size and resources to investing directly. Entries that can demonstrate innovation in portfolio construction, global diversification and recent deal activity are likely to do well. 

Indirect Strategy

Judges will be looking for innovation in indirect investments in private, non-listed real estate markets. Entries can include investments in non-listed funds, funds of funds and multi-manager mandates. Due diligence processes, global diversification and first moves into the asset class will be taken into account.

Infrastructure Strategy

An explanation of the role infrastructure investments perform in your long term objectives and the value it adds to your portfolio will likely impress the judges, with examples of recent deals and partnerships adding weight to your case. 

Investment in Latin America 

This new award will be judged on how your investments in this area complement your investments in other regions and add long term value overall. Examples of deals are essential.

Listed Strategy 

The judges will be looking for a detailed description of your policy to gain exposure to real estate by investing in property funds and vehicles that are listed on stock exchanges, such as REITs. Recent examples of investment activity in this area will strengthen your entry.


Opportunistic Strategy


Winning entries will show innovation and recent activity in opportunistic investments. These are traditionally high-risk/return strategies, including distressed debt, emerging markets and development.

Portfolio 

For this award, the judges will be impressed by how your investments in different sectors and regions using different investment styles complement each other as well as your overall investments.

Sustainable Strategy


Clear evidence and examples of deals of an inclusive and practical approach to reducing your carbon footprint, protecting the environment and supporting the local community and economy with your real estate investments and developments are among the essential aspects of a successful sustainable entry.

Value-added Strategy


Entries should show success in value-added investment, including development projects and repositioning of secondary assets through capital expenditure. Traditionally, value-added investments derive more of their return from capital appreciation versus core investments.
