Event Description

Topic: Texas EHSAC Regional Roundtable

The Houston Chapter of the IIA is proud to announce the 2020 meeting of the Texas EHSAC Regional Roundtable.

“OnRisk Report” - Assurance in Environmental, Social and Governance  - This session will discuss the latest offerings from the IIA Environmental, Health & Safety Audit Center and with a preview of thought leadership planned for 2020. The recently released report On Risk 2020 will be discussed with an emphasis on the Sustainability data obtained during the survey process.

Engaging Company Management on the HSE Audit Value Proposition - The goal of the presentation is to engage management on the general cultural view and response to findings and the value of a management supported audit program.  The approach is on changing company culture on how we perceive efforts intended for continuous improvements within our organization.

General Environmental and Safety Regulatory Update and Roundtable Discussions:  A Fireside Chat - Tim Wilkins discusses recent activity in important Texas and national EHS regulations and court action. With an eye towards “what it means to you and me” with plenty of interactive discussion, this session has been a perennial favorite of EHS auditors at prior EHSAC meetings.

Current Trends in EPA Region 6 Enforcement - During this session you’ll hear about USEPA’s and Region 6 priorities, as well as how the agency’s enforcement and compliance assurance activities support those priorities. A prior presenter at the Houston Chapter’s EHSAC meeting, Mr. Gilrein held a very interactive session and took plenty of time to address attendees’ questions.

EH&S Auditing: Where Do You Fit in the 3 Lines of Defense? - Where do YOU fit in the three lines of defense?  Well it depends.  If you’re Operational Management, you own and manage EH&S risks (i.e., spills, incidents, releases, etc.).  If you’re Risk Management or Compliance, you need to support the first line of defense by assessing and monitoring EH&S risks.  If you’re Internal Audit, you need to coordinate with the second line of defense by ensuring EH&S risks are being monitored and reported to the highest level of the organization.  Every line is needed.  Find out where YOU fit in the three lines of defense.
