Description

This session will discuss one health care system’s enterprise-wide development and implementation of a comprehensive Care Management Career Ladder designed to recognize care management staff for advanced clinical performance and demonstration of leadership skills in providing direct patient care. Creating a five-tier ladder, both RN case managers and social workers are recognized for their demonstration of skills promoting clinical excellence, community involvement, education, and leadership. The speakers will present program outcomes, including: career ladder participation, annual employee engagement and employee pulse surveys, patient satisfaction, and employee retention.


Learning Objectives:
1. Empower case management staff – both RN case managers and social workers – through the ownership of creating and developing an advancement path for their peers through a formal career ladder

2. Identify structure, timeline, processes, and format to support a successful career ladder

3. Demonstrate and discuss how the career ladder has promoted advanced clinical practice, and increased professionalism and employee engagement
