Caregivers and support persons play an important role in providing their loved one with physical and emotional support. Sometimes, caregivers neglect their own needs.  This session offers tools, strategies, and resources to support both you and your loved one.

Who is On My Care Team and How Do I Access Them?, Carol Leija, MSN, RN, OCN Oncology Nurse Navigator, UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center

When do you contact your doctor or nurse coordinator?  What does a social worker do and how do they help?  What resources are available to me?  How do I start a conversation and about clinical trials?  This session will empower you with knowledge and tools to navigate your care.

Preparing for a Stem Cell Transplant, Flora Stondell, RN, NP, Stem Cell Transplant Program Nurse Practitioner, UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center

What happens after you are informed that you need a stem cell transplant?  You will hear what to expect, learn about your care team, their roles and how best to contact them.  Resources and information for patients undergoing stem cell transplant will also be discussed.

12:50   Integrative Medicine & Patient Support

            In this session, Depti Behl, MD of Sutter Health will speak about integrative medicine, an             approach to managing side effects and survivorship that integrates physical activity, nutrition,             touch and mindfulness.  This session will also include a poetry reading from author, Brad             Buchanan, from his new book about his cancer experience, The Scars Aligned.  Resources             and support provided by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will be highlighted as well.
