Event Description |
Addiction therapy has a wide variety of clinical practices and admission and utilization criteria. The American Society of Addiction Medicine
(ASAM) recognized the need for a uniform set of criteria to assess and treat patients and created the ASAM Criteria, now the most widely used
and comprehensive national guidelines for placement, continued stay and discharge of patients with alcohol and other drug problems.
The ASAM Criteria help individuals better understand the areas of their lives that have influenced and been influenced by their substance-use behavior. ASAM has classified these areas into six different dimensions. These dimensions help the individual and his or her treatment team or clinician identify the strengths, resources and functional deficits that determine the focus of services and interventions. It is ultimately these dimensions that guide the individual’s service plan in meeting his or her specific needs.
This training is an interactive, practical, case-based course designed to support primary care physicians, psychiatrists in their clinical treatment of patients at risk for substance use disorders.
Registration: $110 per person. Student Registration: Enrolled students may receive a discount. Please email cabhp@asu.edu for questions.
Paid parking close to our ASU offices on the 1st floor of the Westward Ho is available at the corner of Fillmore and Central, at street meters, and other parking lots downtown. We are unable to provide or validate parking for this event.
