GOVERNMENT & INDUSTRY REGULATIONS AFFECTING MEDICAL MEETINGS

AdvaMed Code, PhRMA Code, and Individual State LawsMany exhibitors at INS National Academy abide by the AdvaMed Code of Ethics on Interactions with Health Care Professionals or the PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals. This is in addition to individual state health care reform laws that restrict their interactions with health care professionals. As a result, many companies can no longer provide giveaways that are not educational in nature, or in some cases, refreshments to health care professionals in their booths or at their sponsored events. We appreciate your understanding and support.

FEDERAL HEALTH CARE REFORM LAWS

Disclosure of National Provider Identifier (NPI#)/Sunshine ActBecause of new federal health care reform laws (Physicians Payment Affordable Care Act or “Sunshine Act”), exhibitors and sponsors are now required to file an annual report to the federal government disclosing items with a value exceeding $10 (such as educational giveaways, refreshments, etc.) that have been given to health care professionals with prescribing authority or from teaching hospitals. This report must include the business address of the recipient and, if the recipient is a physician or has prescribing authority, the area of specialty and the National Provider Identifier (NPI) of the covered recipient.

If you already have an NPI number, please include this on your registration form.

Not sure what your NPI number is? Look it up in the NPI REGISTRY.
