Booking deadlines and procedure:

One-day tours: Bookings and final payment must be made latest 18 June (3 days before tour). Copy of payment advice must be sent to Rung@itt.co.za latest 18 June.

2- and 3- day tours: Booking requests must be sent latest 13 June (one week before tour), the tour company will then book the lodge provided there is availability, once the tour is confirmed back to the client, payment must be made latest 3 days before tour. Copy of payment advice must be sent to Rung@itt.co.za latest 18 June.


ONE DAY TOURS
 (available on 21 June only)

1. Shark Cage Diving
No diving experience required. Tour is weather / sea conditions dependent.
Minimum 2 passengers required for tour to operate, failing which, a single passenger will have to pay double cost.
Cost per person: ZAR 2,770.00
Tour duration: approximately 5 hours
Tour description: Transfer from Durban to the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. Shark cage diving typically involves diving in heavy metal cages in the cold waters of Gaansbaai in Cape Town, specifically targeting the large Great White Sharks that inhabit that region. However in the warmer waters of KwaZulu-Natal, different species of shark can be found on the cage dive like Blacktip sharks, Dusky Sharks, Spinner Sharks, Tiger and Zambezi Sharks. These species are smaller than the Great White Shark and their main diet consists of small schooling fish. This is truly an exciting once in a lifetime experience - bond with family, friends or colleagues as you get close up to sharks in South Africa.

2. Karkloof Canopy Tour
Minimum 2 passengers required for tour to operate, failing which, a single passenger will have to pay double cost.
Tour is weather dependent.
Cost per person: ZAR 2,490.00
Tour duration: ¾ day
Tour description: Transfer from Durban to Karkloof – a scenic area approximately 1.5 hours west of Durban. The Karkloof Canopy tour is a unique eco-experience that takes people on a 3 hour adventure through the magnificent Karkloof indigenous forest. The canopy tour involves traversing from one platform to another along a steel cable suspended up to 30m above the forest floor. The tour comprises seven platforms and eight slides that zig-zag down a pristine forested valley. The scenery and birdlife is spectacular and professional guides provide interesting facts about the forest ecology during the tour. Light snack is included. Return to Durban hotel.

3. Safari in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi National Park
Minimum 2 passengers required for tour to operate, failing which, a single passenger will have to pay double cost.
Includes:
- safari in open 4x4 safari vehicle
- picnic lunch
- park fees
Cost per person: ZAR 3,160.00
Tour duration: a long day (12 – 14 hours)
Tour description: An early dawn departure (05h30) enables us to enjoy an exciting full day ‘Big 5’ photo safari. We travel north into the heart of Zululand to visit the oldest Game Reserve in South Africa, the Hluhluwe & Umfolozi National Park. It was here that the famous White Rhino conservation project was initiated and implemented with great success. This reserve is home to the ‘Big 5’ – Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino – as well as many other exciting wildlife species. The area is also renowned for its exceptional birding. A break will be taken for lunch at around midday, when the animals tend to seek the cool of the denser vegetation. Our adventure will resume again for a few hours in the early afternoon, before returning home, cameras filled with footage of Africa’s wildlife at its best!

4. Inanda Heritage & Gandhi Settlement Tour
Minimum 2 passengers required for tour to operate, failing which, a single passenger will have to pay double cost.

Cost per person: ZAR 1,500.00
Tour duration: 6 – 8 hours
Tour description: Start with a visit to Cato Manor, the first area from which Africans and Indians were forcibly removed and relocated to “Townships” in the early 1960s. We continue towards KwaMashu, Durban’s oldest township that was created to accommodate the mass resettlement of Africans from Cato Manor. We visit the Men’s hostel area, originally created to accommodate single migrant workers but nowadays home to families in newly constructed flats amongst the older buildings. One of the Royal residences of the Zulu King is also situated here. We stop in one of the other Township sections and take a short walk. We also stop at a local shebeen for a traditional shisanyama lunch. Our journey continues inland to the local settlement of Inanda, which is steeped in history and culture. Time permitting, we visit the Ohlange Institute, where President Mandela cast his vote in South Africa’s first democratic elections in 1994; the Phoenix settlement where Mahatma Gandhi developed his philosophy of passive resistance and the Inanda Seminary, one of the oldest African private schools for girls, established in 1869. We end the day with a visit to Ebuhleni for a brief introduction to the religious world and the theosophy of the Shembe Church.

5. Drakensberg, Sani Pass & Lesotho
Minimum 2 passengers required for tour to operate, failing which, a single passenger will have to pay double cost.

Passport required, NB – tour only possible for nationalities where no visa requirements apply for Lesotho or for return to South Africa
Cost per person: ZAR 2,739.00
Tour duration: 10 - 12 hours
Tour description: It’s only a 3 hours’ drive from the city we find ourselves in the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains. Spectacular vistas, breathtaking scenery and diverse flora and fauna are what you can look forward to experiencing today, as we explore the highlight of the Southern Drakensberg – Sani Pass! We leave our vehicle at the base station and use 4 x 4 vehicles to traverse the pass into the “Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho”. En route we stop to visit with the local people in their traditional village and learn a little about their culture and way of life. Our journey continues further up the pass to the “Highest Pub in Africa” where we stop for a light lunch, whilst admiring the sheer magnitude and beauty of these incredible mountains. We make our way back down the pass, through the border and return to Durban.

6. Drakensberg Mountains & Giants Castle
Minimum 2 passengers required for tour to operate, failing which, a single passenger will have to pay double cost.

Cost per person: ZAR 2,150.00
Tour duration: 7 - 8 hours
Tour description: We travel via the picturesque Natal Midlands to Giant’s Castle, situated in the Central Drakensberg region. Here we spend the day taking a leisurely guided hike into the mountains to view the Bushman Paintings, followed by a visit to the San Museum. Enjoy a delicious light lunch before returning to Durban.

7. Microlight Flight
Minimum 2 passengers required for tour to operate, failing which, a single passenger will have to pay double cost.
Tour is weather dependent.
Cost per person: ZAR 2,120.00
Tour duration: 7 - 8 hours
Tour description: You will be collected at your Durban hotel, and transferred to the airfield, located approximately 45 minutes north of Durban city. You will then be introduced to your pilot, and set off on a 30-minute flight, across beautifully manicured sugar estates toward the coastline. Once over the Indian Ocean, route south past Sheffield Beach, Salt Rock, Chaka’s Rock, Ballito and the Millionaire’s Estate of Zimbali. Chances of possible sightings of Dolphin & Game fish, a truly breathtaking experience. Transfer back to your hotel.

8. Helicopter Flight
Minimum 2 passengers required for tour to operate.
Cost per person: ZAR 2,600.00
Flight duration: 20 minutes
Tour description: You will be collected at your Durban hotel, and transferred to the small aircraft airport in Durban. You will then be introduced to your pilot, and set off on a 20-minute flight, starting off with the Durban Harbour scenic then routing back towards Umhlanga. Aerial views of millionaires’ mile with luxurious beachfront mansions and luscious, tropical gardens. Fly past The Pearls Glass Towers to the pristine natural beach forest around Umhlanga Lagoon. Transfer back to your hotel.

2-DAY & 3-DAY TOURS

1. Safari in Hluhluwe/Imfolozi National Park (2 days)
Minimum 2 passengers required for tour to operate.
Includes:

Tour duration: 2 days
Tour description:
Day 1 (20 June): We depart Durban at 16.00, and drive to Hluhluwe. Driving time: approximately 3.5 hours. Arrive at your lodge, check in. Dinner and overnight: Umkhumbe Lodge (or similar), Hluhluwe.

Day 2 (21 June):
An early departure from the lodge with packed breakfast, to reach the Hluhluwe/Imfolozi entrance gate at day-break. We spend the full day on safari in the park in open 4x4 safari vehicles. This reserve is host to the ‘Big 5’ – Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino – as well as many other exciting wildlife species. The area is also renowned for its exceptional birding. A break will be taken for lunch at around midday, when the animals tend to seek the cool of the denser vegetation. Our adventure will resume again for a few hours in the early afternoon, before returning to Durban early evening.

2. Safari in Hluhluwe/Imfolozi National Park & St Lucia River Safari (3 days)

Day 3 (22 June):
Another early morning departure from the lodge heading for the Hluhluwe/Imfolozi park. We have a 3-hour open vehicle game-drive, this is the time when the animals are most active. After leaving the park we continue with a visit to the village of St. Lucia. This is the hub for exploring the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, one of South Africa’s UNESCO World Heritage sites. After a light lunch, we depart on a River Safari, here we will have the opportunity to view crocodiles and hippos in their natural habitat. This area is also renowned for its birdlife. Early evening we return back to Durban.

3. Drakensberg Splendour (3 days)
Minimum 2 passengers required for tour to operate.
Includes:
• All transportation
• Services of English speaking, licensed tour guide throughout
• 2 nights’ accommodation sharing twin bedded room (for single room, refer below to Single Room Supplement) at Cavern Berg Resort (or similar)

Tour description:
Day 1 (20 June): We depart Durban at 16.00, and travel a mere 3 hours from the city to find ourselves in the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains. Spectacular vistas, breathtaking scenery and diverse flora and fauna are what you can look forward to experiencing for the next two days. Check in at your hotel, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 (21 June): Today is your day to decide what appeals to you most! Perhaps it’s a full day hike into the mountains accompanied by a local mountain guide, or for those who are not quite so energetic, a relaxing day at your accommodation, experiencing the various facilities on offer such as tennis, enjoying the swimming pool or booking an optional horse-ride. Whatever your choice, you can look forward to experiencing a day filled with amazing scenery, spectacular vistas and the most diverse flora and fauna! Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at your hotel.

Day 3 (22 June): The morning is at leisure. You will be collected by your guide, and we depart via one of South Africa’s premier tourist routes – The Midlands Meander - famous for its Ethnic Art, Weaving, Leather Work, Pottery, Wind Chimes, Hand Crafted Furniture and a host of other intriguing skills and crafts! We are able to spend an hour or two on the Meander discovering its treasures, before continuing our journey via Howick and return to Durban in the late afternoon. A lunch stop will be made during the course of the day (included in your tour cost).
