About the Event: NSW - The power of social media - empowering an audience to movement

Can social media change the world? We think so!

Join social enterprise leader Thankyou as they share their success of using social media to empower their audience to action. Their “consumer movement” gave loyal supporters a unified and powerful voice through social media – and triggered an incredible change! Armed with passionate supporters and big ideas, Thankyou have disrupted the retail industry and raised millions of dollars to fund projects in more than 20 countries.

Thankyou have learned some big lessons along their journey of growth. Whether you’re a traditional fundraiser, digital and social media expert or interested in social enterprise, there is something here for everyone. Join Melissa Morris from Thankyou as she shares how they’ve done things differently and used social media to generate a movement of supporters into action.
Melissa Morris
PR & Communications Manager

Melissa Morris is the PR and Communications Manager at Thankyou, a social enterprise that exists to empower people to play a part in ending global poverty through simple everyday purchases. Thankyou gives 100% of profits from its range of over 45 consumer products across water, body care, food and baby to fund access to safe water, sanitation, food and maternal and child health respectively. So far, they’ve given more than $4.6 million to help hundreds of thousands of people in need.

With experience heading up PR for some of Melbourne’s most famous hotels and events, Melissa knows firsthand about the power of PR. She’s applied her extensive knowledge to several of Thankyou’s daring marketing campaigns that have seen $1.2million raised in a 28 day crowd-funding campaign, and the products stocked at 7 Eleven, Coles and Woolworths. She shares the Thankyou journey so far, and offers valuable insight into the power of PR and disruption in the PR space.
