2018 Hypertension Symposium

New Guidelines, New Approach to Diagnosis and Treatment

A message from the Chair and Planning Committee
Please join us to discover important new developments and strategies at the 2018 Kaiser Permanente SCPMG Hypertension Symposium!

The committee has designed this symposium with Primary Care and Specialty needs in mind, including interactive strategic discussions on:

New Goals & Guidelines:

  • Why is out-of-office blood pressure monitoring important?
  • How to we implement USPSTF guidelines and how to make a diagnosis of HTN into our everyday clinical practices?
  • What is AOBP and how can we use it to aid in diagnosis and management of our patients?
  • What are the new KP guidelines for how to classify HTN and what are the goals of treatment?
  • Which patients should be treated to more aggressive BP lowering goals?

Motivating Behavior Change

  • What does the science tell us about health behavior change?
  • How do different communication styles impact trust and motivation?
  • How to approach conversations in brief time with patients in difficult-to-get-to-goal population to influence changes in their behavior?
  • How to take less time to help patients take a step forward?
  • How do I get started?

Challenging cases:

  • How would you approach diagnostic dilemmas, and medication decisions/interactions/intolerance in the context of multiple comorbidities?

This year's distinguished faculty includes our keynote speaker, Dr. Daichi Shimbo, Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Cardiology at the Columbia University Medical Center and Co-Director of the ColumbiaDoctors Hypertension Center, and hypertension leaders from KP SCAL, to help you continue to advance your mastery in Hypertension management.

We encourage you to attend this year... as it is an event you will not want to miss!

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you there.
