ABSTRACT

The course offers the trainee – dentist, who wants to take the leap into placing implants a high advance dental education in implant surgery. The course will cover the basic and the advanced aspects of scientific evidence for patient management with dental implants. This will be in the form of didactic component comprised of lectures in basic and advance specialty topics,          pre- clinical with the aim of familiarize the applicant with the different and most popular available implant systems, knows the benefit of CAD/CAM technology for digital treatment planning and identify the available planning software, introduce the surgical techniques of implant placement procedures and introduce the prosthetic construction of implants on hands on model. The trainee, on successful completion of the course, should be able to develop the evidence based protocol for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning, exposed to surgical placement of dental implant and available prosthetic components.   

A variety of innovation dental implant designs, surgical and prosthetic techniques have been explored, with the objectives of providing a long term, trouble free, fully functional dentition to the broadest possible spectrum of potential patients. Moreover, the use of dental implants has been showing increase acceptance and practice not only among dental specialists but also uncertified general practitioners.

Successful dental implants are based on adequate knowledge on the following aspects:

  • Proper patient selection.
  • Preplanned surgical phase
  • Atrumatic surgical technique.
  • Preplanned prosthetic phase.
  • Postoperative care.
  • Maintenance therapy. 
To insure the high success rate of treatment with dental implants and to minimize the cases of failure,
the practitioners have to have an advanced education and training in this field. A well planned trainin
courses in dental implants, which covers in depth all the above mentioned aspects for success in addition to the application of the most updated and evidence based techniques in implant dentistry, can help in achieving the highest success rate of dental implants and provide the population with the best and most efficient treatment service, and this is the main aim behind the establishment of Clinical Guidelines for Prosthetically Driven Surgical Implant Placement Workshop

SPEAKERS BIOGRAPHY:

Dr.Fawaz Al Qahtani received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery with an honor degree from King Saud University School of Dentistry in 2007. He completed a three year combined program in Prosthodontics and Dental Materials ‘MDS’at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In 2014, He earned his surgical Implant.Fellowship from Loma Linda university school of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. He is an International fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and Associate fellow of American Academy of Implant Dentistry.              

Dr. Mohammed Al Attas earned his Bachelor of Science in Dentistry at College of Dentistry, King Abdul- Aziz University. Dr. Al Attas earned implant fellowship certificate as well as the Saudi board of prosthodontics with honor degree in 2014. Dr. Al Attas worked as Subspecialty consultant in Prosthodontics and dental implant at King Saud Medical City (KSMC) under MOH, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 2015. In 2016 Dr. Al Attas obtained his Fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics in University of Alberta (U of A), Canada. Dr. Al Attas obtained his Dipolmate of American Board of Oral Implantology/ Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID), and also, fellow of American Academy of Implant Dentistry (Fellow AAID).
