Overview

Ofsted expect trainers and assessors to actively promote equality, diversity and British values. To take advantage of what is going on in the world and to discuss sensitive and, at times, controversial topics, to prepare learners thoroughly for life in Britain’s complex multicultural society.

But how can you meaningfully integrate and promote equality, diversity and British values in progress reviews and assessment visits? How do you get employers on board? How can we become more sophisticated in our data analysis?

This is a practical one-day workshop that is updated with the very latest findings from Ofsted and shares best practice in the sector.

Objectives of this event are to:
  • understand Ofsted expectations for integrating and promoting equality, diversity, inclusion and British Values in workplace learning
  • recognise the links between promoting British values, implementing the Prevent duty, safeguarding and integrating equality and diversity
  • explore the practical implications within the learner experience such as sign up (enrolment), induction, progress reviews and assessment visits
  • discuss how to get employers on board and how to assess E&D practice with new employers
  • examine sector issues, challenges and case studies and evaluate your own practice
  • consider the practice of outstanding providers
  • appreciate the benefits of fully integrating and promoting equality, diversity, inclusion and British values in workplace learning, and take learning back to implement the approaches provided

Target Audience

All providers involved in workplace learning and offering apprenticeships.

This event will be of interest to workplace learning leads, assessors and all staff involved in assessment visits, progress reviews, IAG, learner sign-up (enrolment) and sign-up of new employers.

This workshop will help organisations to:
  • Maximise opportunities so that E&D and British values are integrated and promoted fully into workplace learning, and learning is enhanced.
  • Robustly evaluate performance, for example when carrying out assessor observations.
  • Drive up learner success, narrow achievement gaps and improve inspection outcomes.
