The NASA Stennis Space Center Office of Education is providing a 5-hour educator professional development STEM workshop.


Solar System and Beyond

Date: January 24, 2018

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. CT (30-minute lunch)

Audience: In-service, pre-service, home school and informal STEM educators of grades 4-8

Location: Infinity Science Center (Map); Classroom B (upstairs)

Infinity has a cafe to order lunch on site, or you can bring your own lunch and snacks.

Join us for an exciting journey through our Solar System and Beyond! NASA’s exploration spans the universe and boldly researches the outer reaches of space. While using NASA STEM activities, curriculum, and online resources, we will investigate worlds beyond our planet and probe the origins of our universe as we search for life beyond our home planet Earth.

Online pre-registration is required to participate.

Registration will be limited to 30 educators.

Registration will close when 30 educators are registered, or January 22, 2018.

CEU's will be offered for 5.0 hours of attendance.



Steve Culivan is the NASA STEM Education Professional Development Collaborative Specialist at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. Mr. Culivan develops and provides NASA STEM online and face-to-face professional development programs for in-service, pre-service and informal educators. Mr. Culivan was the Principal Investigator for two International Space Station (ISS) in-flight education demonstrations. He additionally developed and co-developed several NASA curriculum products. Prior to his current twenty-eight year career with NASA Education, Mr. Culivan taught middle school Earth and Space Science, life science, English, art and coached several sports. He holds a current Louisiana teaching certificate in science and English. Mr. Culivan received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Louisiana Tech University and a Masters of Science degree in Education from Oklahoma State University.
