In-house best practice course

How do you succeed as a new or sole in-house lawyer?

This new course has been specifically designed to support and guide new in-house solicitors and those working as sole legal counsel in their organisation, or as part of a small in-house team. The agenda has been constructed to recognise that in-house communities face very different challenges, and their relationships and roles with and within their employers are distinctive. This course will appeal to in-house solicitors in both the public and private sectors.

Join us on 3 October 2017 for insights, debate and practical training given by a number of experienced in-house lawyers, and receive expert guidance from the Law Society of Scotland’s Professional Practice and Regulations teams.

You will also be able to share your experiences and participate in facilitated group discussions based on professional practice related case studies, ethical dilemmas and challenging internal dynamics.

Learning Outcomes

By attending this course, you will develop an understanding of:
  • Identifying in-house legal practice objectives and delivering them
  • Developing your role from legal counsel to strategic business partner
  • Alignment and understanding within your organisation
  • Your relationship with the practice rules
  • Ethics and key professional practice consideration
  • Client management: external legal services and internal teams
