As part of its efforts to provide value to member institutions, HLC offers a biannual Professional Development Week. During the Summer 2017 Professional Development Week, workshops will include an individual-oriented assessment basics workshop, a team-based workshop on institution-wide assessment planning and a workshop for faculty members on how to support student success. Through informational and interactive sessions led by expert practitioners, participants in all three workshops will develop skills and strategies to help their institutions improve.
Emerging Leaders in Assessment Workshop (Individual)
July 17–18, 2017
Individuals with new assessment responsibilities and those seeking to refresh their assessment skills and
knowledge will be guided through the terminology and processes that are
fundamental to assessing student learning.
Strategic Assessment Workshop (Team)
July 17–18, 2017
Teams of five to eight institutional
representatives with varying levels of accountability for assessment will
collaborate with experienced facilitators to develop a deliberately designed
assessment plan that aims to cultivate an institutional culture committed to
improving student learning.
Supporting Student Success Workshop (Individual)
July 19–20, 2017
Individuals in the faculty role and those supporting the work of faculty will explore potential barriers
to student success, examine promising practices and devise strategies to
support students inside and outside of the classroom.
