About the Event: QLD - Are you ready to join the #resistance? The future of fundraising and advocacy in 2017

Last year’s Brexit and the US Election Result sent shockwaves through civil society, creating challenges and opportunities for charities and fundraisers.  As politics has lurched to the right, a groundswell of grassroots activism, political action and fundraising has emerged at an unprecedented speed and scale in response.

We are seeing a new dynamic emerge that is transforming the relationship between supporters and the causes they care about.  What can you learn from this new wave of engagement and what could it mean for your charity in the future?

·      How did a facebook post from a grandmother in Hawaii turn into the largest protest in global history, with 5 million participants in the Women’s March?

·      How did ACLU raise $26 million, 6 times their annual fundraising, in just one weekend without launching an appeal?

·      How did Planned Parenthood cope with a flood of donations that also targeted the incoming Vice President Mike Pence in the US?

·      Learn about the fundamental shift from top down leadership and activation by charities and causes to a model of ground level empowerment and engagement in local communities.

·      When every cause from the environment, to welfare, to refugees, to health care are under threat – how can you position your charity to respond?
