The Dental Esthetic Checklist describes seven key fundamentals for examination, diagnosis and treatment planning in dento-facial esthetic dentistry. Participants will receive an overview and a take-home sample of the Facial Plane Relator, a simple device that records facial midline, facial vertical axis and facial horizontal plane relationships to ensure harmony between the final anterior dental restorations and facial planes of symmetry. Esthetic Gauges, developed by Hu Friedy and based on a concept described by Dr. Steve Chu, also will be discussed. These measuring devices ensure the incorporation of biometrical proportions into anterior dental restorations.
Objectives:
Learn the importance of starting with facial planes of symmetry for the complete dento-facial examination.
Confirm the value of recording and transferring facial plane information to the dental laboratory.
Appreciate the scientific evidence for natural tooth biometry as the most consistent method for determining esthetic anterior tooth proportion.
