Casualty exercise lecture and lab is designed for dental professionals and dental team members interested in forensic dental identification. The objective is to provide professional training and knowledge in forensic dentistry, mass disaster management and identification of human remains. The lab portion of the exercise includes examination and charting of postmortem remains, along with comparison of postmortem findings to reconstructed antemortem records. Note: Assistant-specific functions, such as imaging postmortem remains, are not a function of this course.

Objectives:
Perform a postmortem dental examination
Compare antemortem and postmortem dental information to ascertain individual identification and the level of medico-legal certainty
Understand the team concept as applied to mass disaster management
