This course will discuss various types of special needs patients, the specifics of their disabilities and how it relates to dentistry. Receive hands-on training on how to manage kids and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities in the dental office, and gain confidence to better serve the special needs population. Participants will be given practical and simple tools to incorporate into their practices to better treat special needs patients. Note: This course can be taken by itself or may serve as a prerequisite for" Now What? An Easy, Practical Approach to Treating Patients with Special Needs." course.

Objective:
Identify various forms of physical and intellectual disabilities and their characteristics.
Understand the types of behavior management techniques available and when to use them.
Identify tools and dental products available that make treating special needs patients easier and efficient.
