Shannon Luminary Lecture Series - Yann LeCun

Shannon Luminary Lecture Series

In honor of Claude Shannon – the father of information theory and arguably of all communications and networked systems – Bell Labs has created the Shannon Luminary Lecture Series and Award. This annual series of ten talks by the leading visionary researchers, developers, thinkers and entrepreneurs from all fields of scientific, technological, engineering, mathematical, or related artistic endeavor will explore all topics of high impact and relevance to the future of human existence.

The next lecture will be given by Yann LeCun, director of Artificial Intelligence Research at Facebook and Silver Professor of Data Science, Computer Science, Neural Science, and Electrical Engineering at New York University. He is also a Bell Labs alumnus.
LeCun is known for pioneering work in machine learning that has revolutionized the fields of image analysis, speech recognition, and language translation. His algorithms are used widely throughout the industry and academia.

Please join us for an illuminating presentation with a glimpse into the future of automation. We will present Dr. LeCun with the Shannon Luminary Award and a cash honorarium to be donated to a cause of his choosing.

Prior Shannon Luminary awardees include Zhenan Bao, Eric Schmidt, Irwin Jacobs, Bob Metcalfe, Amber Case and Henry Markram.

Dr. LeCun will be speaking in the Hamming Innovation Hall on the Murray Hill Bell Labs Campus on February 17, starting at 10 am.

As space is limited, please confirm your attendance by February 8, 2017.
