Bio

Dr. (COL RET) William R. Bachand currently serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation at the Dental College of Georgia, Augusta, University, Augusta, Georgia.  He has served in the position since September 1, 2013.  Prior to that he served 34 years on Active Duty with the US Army Dental Corps.  Dr. Bachand is a native of Superior, Wisconsin.  He completed undergraduate school at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota and dental school at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Dr. Bachand completed a General Practice Residency and an Advanced Education in General Dentistry- 2 Year. He served in a variety of positions in the US Army Dental Corps including command and teaching roles.

Dr. Bachand is Board Certified in Comprehensive Dentistry by the American Board of General Dentistry.  He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, and the American Dental Education Association.  He has earned Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry and is a Fellow in the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists. 

Dr. Bachand’s teaching responsibilities include the areas of pre-clinical and clinical operative dentistry, fixed prosthodontics, and diagnosis and treatment planning.  He is the course director for Restorative Dentistry for the 3rd year students.  He also serves on the Admissions Committee.  Dr. Bachand was awarded the Georgia Dental Association/American Student Dental Association Outstanding Dental Faculty Member Award for support to those organizations for 2015 and 2016. Dr. Bachand recently volunteered to serve on 2 humanitarian missions supporting the US Navy.  In 2015 he supported Operation Continuing Promise 2015 in Haiti aboard the USNS Comfort, and in 2016 supported Operation Pacific Partnership 2016 in the Philippines aboard the USNS Mercy.
