Description: Every day we encounter patients who desire to improve their smiles, but may be reluctant to discuss it for a variety of reasons time, effort and costs which can be a barrier for them to achieve their esthetic goals. Although certain patients might be a candidate for a full mouth rehab or require an indirect solution for their restorative needs, some patients issues and concerns can be addressed with conservative tooth movement of just a few anterior teeth and direct composites. Reduce the frustration of compromised enamel caused from misaligned teeth, orthodontic relapse, or worn incisal edges! This two-part program will offer practical solutions for the general dentist and their team to straighten teeth into healthier positions using a contemporary orthodontic aligner system and how to restore them conservatively with composite. The morning lecture session will focus on identifying misaligned cases that can be treated predictably, restored with versatile esthetic options including direct resin techniques, and in-office methods to fabricate occlusal guards to protect the patients dentition.

The afternoon session will consist of a two-phase hands-on workshop to further the understanding of treatment planning and use of direct composites: Design and fabrication of a clear aligner, Minor Tooth Movement (MTM), plus contemporary direct composite options for isolation and restoration of anterior and posterior teeth on a typodont. We will round out the day by fabricating high quality night guards that can be made in-house using a positive pressure machine.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand how tooth positions mutually improve esthetics and function.
  • Review the fundamentals of minor tooth movement.
  • Learn about relapse and how to prevent it from happening.
  • Explore utilizing direct composites to improve esthetics and function in a cost-effective manner.
  • Efficient techniques and the latest in material selection for your direct resin restorations.
  • Provide retention and occlusal protection by learning how to make in-office fabricated appliances
