Planning for Success: Increasing Student Agency in Degree Planning

Universities across the United States face challenges with improving student success. Portland State University (PSU) faces these challenges too, but has taken a unique approach to tackling the issues. Using design thinking, PSU invested in community engagement sessions, student surveys, one on one interviews, best practices research, and internal PSU data to identify key pain-points in the students’ journey. PSU is now implementing a portfolio of initiatives, including projects to improve student services, aimed at enhancing the student experience from prospective student to graduation and fostering student success.
