QLD - Dave Rose Oration

Join us as we celebrate the year that was, and ring in the festive season with the annual Dave Rose Oration. We will also be announcing the Organisational Finalists and QLD Young Fundraiser of the Year awards for the 2017 FIA Awards for Excellence in Fundraising.

Over 13 years, Leanne Angel’s career managing the fundraising team at LifeFlight Rescue has seen her develop a fundraising team which has grown from supporting only one helicopter rescue base at the Gold Coast to six bases across Queensland helping almost 1,500 patients every year. This is a presentation on building a fundraising model brick by brick, developing a great team culture, and connecting with the cause, all the while developing the skills needed to succeed.

It’s a deep-dive personal account of the trials and tribulations of an accidental fundraiser who found her way through a professional career path in the greatest job there is, fundraising!

Attend this event for the opportunity to hear this personal account and reflect on your own career journey including:

  • Knowing your strengths and weaknesses
  • Finding a sustainable work life balance
  • Finding help!
  • Celebrating the successes
  • Believing in the mission during the tough times
  • Finding a mentor
  • Finding your tribe

Leanne Angel EMFIA, CFRE
Executive Manager Fundraising
LifeFlight Rescue

After a career in the finance sector working with Westpac Bank and Bendigo Bank in the areas of wealth management, business development, and marketing, Leanne joined CareFlight Rescue (now LifeFlight Rescue) in 2003.

This move into the not for profit sector inspired Leanne to develop a full time career as a fundraiser and pursue professional development opportunities in an effort to learn more about how to become a ‘professional  fundraiser’. Membership with the FIA helped to guide her to the courses and training available for fundraisers, and in 2011 Leanne was very proud to attain her CFRE accreditation.

Leanne’s thirteen years at LifeFlight Rescue has enabled the development of a sustainable and diverse fundraising model for the organisation which has achieved strong year on year growth. The diversity of fundraising incomes streams includes direct mail, telemarketing, sponsorship, major donors, bequests, events, grants and workplace giving.

Managing a team of 10 fundraisers, with an additional 30 telefundraising agents in LifeFlight’s in-house call centre, along with over 200 volunteers throughout the community, Leanne’s role is responsible for raising more than 30% of the operating costs of LifeFlight Rescue; about $10 million.
