2017 GCMAS Annual Conference

Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society 2017 Meeting

The 2017 GCMAS Meeting will be held May 23-26, 2017, locally hosted by The University of Utah at the University Guest House and Conference Center, Salt Lake City, UT. The University Guest House and Conference Center is located on the University of Utah campus in the beautiful historic section of Fort Douglas on the east side of the Salt Lake valley. The hotel and conference center were the home for the 2002 Winter Olympic athletic village and the beautiful Fort Douglas area is a very peaceful and scenic area of campus. Being located adjacent to the Salt Lake City TRAX line makes a trip to downtown Salt Lake just minutes away. Additionally, for students or others wishing to take advantage, rooms in residence halls will be available.

Salt Lake City lies in a mountain valley with the Wasatch Mountains to the east and north. Within minutes of the University you can find world class skiing, hiking, climbing, fishing, and mountain biking opportunities. Attractions bordering the University campus include the Utah Museum of Natural History, Museum of Fine Arts and the Hogle Zoo. The conference dates occur just before Memorial Day weekend, so consider extending your stay to explore the mountains of Northern Utah or visit the unique red rock scenery of Southern Utah which includes five national parks: Arches, Bryce, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef and Zion.

Social events for the conference will take advantage of the outdoor scenery and casual, collegiate atmosphere of the area. The Welcome Reception on Tuesday evening will take place at the Red Butte Garden (http://www.redbuttegarden.org ), located on 100 acres in the foothills on the eastern edge of the University of Utah which offers 21 acres of developed gardens and five miles of hiking trails. In lieu of a more traditional banquet, an outdoor barbeque with lawn games and entertainment will be held within walking distance from the conference center.
