Jeffrey Simpson, who recently retired after 32 years as The Globe and Mail's national affairs columnist, is the most-decorated journalist in Canada. As officer of the order of Canada and recipient of seven honorary degrees, he won the Donner Prize for the best book on Canadian public policy, the Governor-General's award for books, the National Magazine Award, the National Newspaper Award (twice). He wrote seven books, including one on Canada's climate change policy, delivered more than 600 presentations during his career, lectured are two dozen Canadian universities, taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa and Queen's University, and remains a senior fellow at the University of Ottawa's School of Policy and International Affairs. He has written extensively about a very wide range of domestic and international issues, including energy and climate change.
