Marcus Blease MFIA
General Manager of Marketing and Fundraising
Cerebral Palsy Alliance

Marcus has worked as the General Manager of Marketing and Fundraising with Cerebral Palsy Alliance for the last seven years. His role encompasses fundraising, brand development and client service marketing. Over this time fundraising has grown from $14m to $30m and events make up a large part of that growth.

Prior to this Marcus worked in senior roles across the Cancer Council NSW and Queensland. Marcus has a real passion for events. He has led the strategy and overseen implementation of mature mass participation events such as Daffodil Day, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Australia’s largest fundraising event Relay For Life, new successful start up’s Girls Night In and Steptember through to traditional gala balls and golfing weekends.

Having worked in the charity sector for the last fourteen years, prior to this, Marcus made a living in the corporate sector as Head of Sales and Marketing at the Financial Times in London and other media roles.

He departs Cerebral Palsy Alliance on 31 August to launch a new full service Fundraising and Marketing agency, Donor Republic. Alongside individual giving, a core focus will be working with charities to create events that rock.

Kim Morris
Events Manager
Cure Brain Cancer Foundation

Kim Morris is South African-born, raised in a philanthropic and socially-conscious family, which saw them migrating to Australia when she was a teenager. Following an injury as a classical ballerina, Kim turned her focus to interior design & property development, which she pursued for 10 years. After her ex-husband was diagnosed with a brain tumour, Kim's desire to give back and focus on others came to the fore. This spurred her to obtain accreditation in Event Management and to work in the not-for-profit sector.

Kim is highly adept at running events from as small as 10 people up to 5,000 people at Newington Productions, The Jewish Communal Appeal & OzHarvest where she spearheaded the introduction to the Qantas Foundation culminating in a 3 year OzHarvest/Qantas partnership for the annual CEO CookOff and more recently joined Cure Brain Cancer Foundation. Kim combines her innovative mind with her extensive connections, and her ability to plan and execute events has seen her manage some of the country's most successful NFP events. Most notably at Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, Kim incepted the inaugural 2015 Sydney Spring Ball for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation in partnership with the Wolfy Foundation. Pitched to the next-generation Sydney philanthropist, it resulted in a sell-out 800+ crowd within days off the back of one, simple Facebook post (and hundreds on the waiting list!) The event had over $19billion worth of wealth in the room, and is a unique example of how rallying a passionate demographic can result in an extraordinary event.

Michelle Murray MFIA
National Events and Community Fundraising Manager
Cure Brain Cancer Foundation

Michelle is one of the country’s most seasoned events managers, with over 20 years’ experience in events and fundraising. Michelle realised that she wanted to use her Marketing qualifications to help others whilst working part-time in neurosurgeon Prof Charlie Teo AM’s office. Having regular contact with patients and families fighting the disease, and witnessing the common element of hope and desire for control in the face of brain cancer, she joined Prof Teo in the early years of Cure For Life Foundation as its first official employee.

During this time, Michelle helped to lay the strong foundations upon which Cure Brain Cancer Foundation has emerged. Over the last 15 years, Michelle humbly puts her name to over millions of dollars of revenue generated by the Foundation’s events portfolio. Her consistent leadership over the years has inspired a passionate following, with the Foundation’s community fundraisers and third party events being consistently profitable, and attracting organisations like Everyday Hero, Inspired Adventures and Real Buzz to showcase the Foundation’s events model. Most notably, Michelle has moulded the Foundation’s two flagship events – Walk4BrainCancer and The Annual Sydney Gala Ball – to generate $1m+ each, making them truly, events that rock.
