ICCA Congress 2016

Congress charity

We feel it is important to give something back to the community where our congress takes place. Instead of handing out speaker gifts, a donation to charity will be made. The local host committee has also graciously agreed not to receive a gift but for another donation to be made to the charity.
This year we will have two charity initiatives.

ICCA Members Gift of Love: The Bookshare

#RoadtoSarawak: Adopt an orang-utan!
If you would like to adopt an orang-utan as well, please find more information here (adoption form).

ICCA Members Gift of Love: The Bookshare

#RoadtoSarawak: Adopt an orang-utan!

This official ICCA Congress 2016 corporate social responsibility programme was initially launched at the International Business and Tourism Management (IBTM) Barcelona 2015, followed by the Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME) Australia in February 2016 and subsequently at the Incentive Travel & Conventions, Meetings (IT&CM) China earlier this month.

This year’s charity is the orangutan conservation programme by Sarawak Forestry. The state's conservation efforts involve preserving and protecting their natural range habitat, public education and rehabilitation of orphaned orangutans. Orangutan rehabilitation programmes are expensive and require dedicated personnel. As they educate the public to learn and understand this totally protected and endagered wildlife, they are offering public involvement in their rehabilitation programmes by introducing the Orangutan Adoption Programme.

ICCA and Malaysia, Local Host of ICCA Congress 2016, are calling all ICCA members to help generate awareness and participate in the Borneo Orang-Utan Project - the official ICCA Congress 2016 CSR cause.

As part of the
#RoadtoSarawak campaign of the 2016 ICCA Congress in the city of Kuching in Sarawak, Malaysia, all ICCA members are exclusively invited to engage in an opportunity of a lifetime to adopt one of the six precious baby orang-utans at 6 tradeshows in the run up to the ICCA Congress.

So far we had the following winners:
Corbin Ball, Corbin Ball Associates at ibtm world 2015
Ross Barker, Haymarket Media Group at AIME 2016
Julie Zhang, Meetings China Magazine at ITC&M China 2016
Danielle Middleton, Development Counsellors International at IMEX 2016

The other two baby orang-utans that you could adopt for a cause are:

Baka, male baby - ITC&M Asia, Bangkok 2016
Manap, male baby - IMEX America 2016

Please visit the Malaysia booth and the ICCA member networking reception at one of the above mentioned tradeshows to snap a photo with 'Brooke' - the official ICCA 2016 mascot and share it on social media with the hashtag #RoadtoSarawak and #ICCAWorld. The announcement of the winner will be made by ICCA in the week after each tradeshow. ICCA will adopt a baby orang-utan on behalf of the chosen member at each tradeshow upon the announcement.
