VIC - Fundraising Management for Professional Development - Are you being heard, do you deserve to be heard?

As professional fundraisers, a primary objective is to cost-effectively increase fundraising income progressively. We call this ‘fundraising development’.

A cursive assumption many boards and CEOs make is that we [the Fundraising Manager / Director] will affect fundraising programs and systems to change the charity’s very fundraising dynamic, and be able to do so with minimal additional investment in the ‘development function’ or even in us!

That’s why we need to be heard, to enable us to articulate the need for fundraising investment long-term.

But how do you articulate that in language that will be heard by your line manager, CEO and Board?

What is your strategic fundraising plan, how do you develop it, how do you present it with impact, and be listened to?

That requires leadership skills, not just fundraising or fundraising management skills.

This new all day workshop specifically for Fundraising Managers and Directors aims to help you focus on developing your strategic fundraising planning and leadership skills and is co-facilitated by Peter Dalton FFIA CFRE, Director, fundraisingfutures, and Sharon Hillman FFIA, Director of Fundraising, Austin Health / Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre Appeal.

Perhaps best recognised for leading high profile capital campaigns in Australia and internationally, Peter strategically value adds to signature campaigns by implementing transformational Total Development fundraising programs for the institutions he serves. 

Peter has provided bespoke fundraising counsel across the non-profit sector – in health, welfare, the arts, environment, education, religious, sport and recreation, and political organizations, as well as to business, academic and cultural leaders, and entertainment icons. 

A passionate environmentalist and Al Gore-trained Climate Reality Leader, Peter was recently appointed Chairman to The Outback Spirit Foundation. He is Director of fundraisingfutures and an Associate of the international emotional fundraising training group, Revolutionise. 

 
Ms Sharon Hillman FFIA

Sharon Hillman has been working in Fundraising for the last 21 years.  She studied a Bachelor of Business Tourism and imagined herself promoting this great country we live in … but then she fell into a Fundraising Role and it got into her blood.  She now says she would not work anywhere else other than the not-for-profit sector.

Sharon’s professional career includes Fundraising & Public Relations management roles with Kilmany Family Care (Gippsland), The National Ageing Research Institute, The Deafblind Association and currently with Austin Health and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre as Director of Fundraising & Development.

Sharon has served as a past President of the Fundraising Institute of Australia (FIA) in Victoria (2008 & 2009) and been an active member of the FIA Victoria Executive for the last 15 years.  She has served on voluntary Boards of Management of small not-for-profit organisations.  Sharon is committed to making a difference in her community and loves the privilege of being able to do this professionally through her work in the not-for-profit sector.

Sharon was the youngest person within Australia to have been awarded the honour of being made a Fellow of the Fundraising Institute of Australia in 2008.   She has been volunteering with the Fundraising Institute in various roles for the last 15 years, and has convened or presented at various training activities over that period.
