Pre-Conference Seminar > comForte - A POC for a hybrid application built on the Yuma Infiniband stack

HP has made an early version of the “Yuma” project (enabling tight coupling of Linux systems with HP X86 NonStop systems) available to a few partners. comForte was one of these and used Yuma to “Infiniband-enable” it’s CSL product. Using the existing CSL framework enabled comForte to build a truly distributed application between a Linux system and the HP NonStop. While that in itself is not new, the reduced latency and improved throughput of Infiniband compared to TCP/IP changes the scenario massively.

The workshop will consist of three presentations: the first will talk about the Hybrid architecture and potential use cases (Justin Simonds). The second will explain the Yuma/Infiniband architecture (Mike Rice). The third will talk about the results of the comForte Proof of Concept based on the early version of the Yuma product, it will also discuss comForte product plans based on its existing product set and the new possibilities (Brad Poole).

Key takeaways

The availability of Infiniband as communication protocol between HP NonStop and Linux will open new possibilities for Hybrid applications. Key takeaways will be:

  • What is possible NOW (prior to Infiniband) given the current speed of Ethernet
  • What will be possible SOON (when Yuma is released officially)
  • Which industries could benefit from Yuma most (IoT? Telco? Stock Exchanges?)
  • comForte product plans for Yuma

Target audience

The workshop is rather technical in nature. It is targeted at HP NonStop platform owners, Enterprise architects and developers.
Within this group, the workshop should be interesting for HP employees, HP NonStop end users and Vendors within the HP NonStop space.
