Professor David Skegg

David Skegg is the President of the Royal Society of New Zealand. In 1987 he established, with Charlotte Paul, the AIDS Epidemiology Group in Dunedin and he remained a Co-Director until 2003. He was also a member of the Medical and Scientific Committee on AIDS and he chaired the MRC Committee on AIDS Research. Currently he chairs the Scientific and Technical Advisory Group for the Special Programme of Research in Human Reproduction at the World Health Organization in Geneva. This programme involves much research on HIV infection, especially in relation to sexual and reproductive health and rights in developing countries.
