Description: The legal principles underlying the doctor-patient relationship are constantly evolving. Digital advancements, from the electronic patient record to diagnostic imaging, allow the clinician to provide more efficient and effective treatment. Along with these benefits come rights and obligations. From informed consent to informed refusal this presentation will sensitize the practicing clinician to the 21st century legal landscape.

  • Create a foundational understanding of the American Legal System as it applies to the health care provider.
  • Sensitize the clinician to the unique rights and obligations encompassed in the doctor-patient relationship.
