Description: This course is intended for dentists who desire to increase their knowledge of the restorative and surgical phases of implant treatment for their patients. The clinical management of the patient from consultation, treatment planning, surgical placement and restoration of implants in the mandible and maxilla will be covered. Several lectures will focus on the surgical and restorative aspects of implant therapy in the partially and completely edentulous patients with straightforward and advanced treatment needs. Hands-on exercises will be performed on simulated patient models highlighting the placement and restoration of dental implants.

Learning Objectives:

  • Have a thorough understanding of the ‘team’ concept of dental implant therapy, with particular reference to the comprehensive treatment planning of patients
  • Develop a diagnostic acumen compatible with maximizing complete and effective treatment planning for implant patients
  • Describe and recognize dental surgical indications and contraindications to dental implant therapy for both the completely and partially edentulous patient
  • Understand restorative options in implant therapy and techniques utilized in restoration.
  • Understand the indications for clinical and laboratory techniques associated with cemented and screw retained restorations in posterior sites
