WORKSHOP B-1 (SOGETSU)
9:30 am - 12:00 pm
$75.00
SOHO SAKAI, RIJI, AIFD

From KADENSHO by Sofu Teshigahara: "Since color is such an integral aspect of the flower, I don’t make a big issue of it in Ikebana.  Line and Mass, however, have to be created.  That’s why it is important to work on and master both aspects. Mastering them as a structural aspect of the plant means that the person has achieved a strong sense of artistic expression.  One cannot leave such important aspects to chance and whim.

Mass is part of Ikebana.  There is mass of leaves, flowers and branches.  Heretofore, Ikebana has concentrated on Lines.  There is much Ikebana which emphasizes only the lines of branches.  Emphasizing mass is a relatively recent method developed in the Sogetsu style.  Both lines and mass contain infinite worlds of beauty."
