Main street panel session – Leading by example

The pressure for main streets and town centres to remain innovative and collaborate and has never been greater. Traditional main streets are being challenged by their evolving role in creating vibrant places for living, working and playing. Add to this changing consumer preferences, alternative retail formats, increased competition and omni-channel retailing and we have a situation which is demanding strategic approaches driven by good leadership.

Facilitated by Mainstreet Australia this panel session will bring together key main street practitioners who will share examples of leadership, collaboration and innovation from their viewpoints.

Therese Ceniti - Digital business and tourism officer City of Darebin will present on how Councils can work provide leadership and work collaboratively with their main streets and local businesses by drawing on their experiences of successful campaigns that have engaged both community and business

Stavros Zikou – Centre Manager for Mailing Road, Bell Street Mall and the Ivanhoe Shopping Centre is fiercely passionate about main streets and the opportunities that digital media provides. Stav will share his experiences of social media and the value that it can deliver to an integrated program of marketing for a main street.
