Creating Calm in the Midst of the Storm: Using Mindfulness in Managing Stress

Facilitators: Elpida Artemiou and Jennifer Bradtke

June 4th, 2020, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Join us in a full day workshop to explore the core of life’s stressors and learning to use mindfulness to create a more intentional and full life. The workshop is based on the premises of the evidence-based 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program developed by Jon Kabat Zinn and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at UMass Medical School.

The workshop is highly experiential and includes guided instruction in meditation, mindful movement, group discussions along with inquiry and self-reflection. Attention to causes of burnout and compassion fatigue is given along with coping skills surrounding mindfulness techniques.

Participants will additionally be given an overview of the MBSR curriculum and its applicability and introduction to academia and practice supporting ongoing interest in how to introduce formal and informal mindfulness techniques. The workshop is intended for both novice as well as individuals’ already practicing mindfulness.
