Summary
This year’s Health and Safety Development Event will focus on two important aspects:
- the importance of promoting mentally healthy and safe workplaces in the 21st century
- the importance of safe driving while at work.
The event will also provide attendees with updates about the LOcHER initiative and how interest and involvement in this project is growing within Scottish colleges.

- anyone with an interest in or responsibility for Health & Safety within their college
- college Curriculum Managers and Lecturers who deliver occupational health and safety related content within vocational programmes.
Aims
By attending this event you will develop your understanding of:
- the importance and issues surrounding safe driving while at work
- the benefits of promoting good health and creating mentally healthy workplaces for the benefits of both college staff and learners mindfulness practice and resilience building, applying these skills in practice
- the LOcHER inititative and how it is being used to engage learners and is re-energising health and safety related teaching and learning in colleges.
