J. Erik Fyrwald

J. Erik Fyrwald joined Nalco as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in February 2008 following a 27-year career at DuPont. From 2003 to 2008 Mr. Fyrwald served as Group Vice President of the Agriculture and Nutrition division of DuPont. Mr. Fyrwald attended the University of Delaware, where he received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering in 1981. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. In addition to serving as Chairman of Nalco’s Board of Directors, Mr. Fyrwald serves as a Director of Eli Lilly and Company, the Society of Chemical Industry, the American Chemistry Council, the Chicago Public Education Fund and is a Trustee of the Field Museum of Chicago.

Bart is Global VP, Alcohol Policy and Corporate Responsibility. In this role, he champions and reports on the company’s global commitment to brewing and building great brands the right way. Under his leadership, Molson Coors embraced being recognized for world-class corporate responsibility as a core platform for achieving its global business ambition and recently published its first Corporate Responsibility report. Bart's work before joining Coors was largely in the US public sector, where he held senior positions in economic development and human services at the local, state and federal levels. In those experiences, he became convinced that long-term solutions to social problems require alignment of government, business and NGO resources. Bart is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard, with a concentration in comparative government. He holds a masters degree from the London School of Economics with a focus on health and social policy and economics. He later served as a Senior Executive Fellow at the JFK School of Government at Harvard and completed the Harvard Business School Executive Program on Corporate Social Responsibility. Bart actively participates in civic affairs, including board positions with international, national and local NGOs.

Patrick has been a featured speaker at several key RPO industry events, a regular contributor to industry publications, and is a recognized thought leader in the RPO space. Prior to joining SeatonCorp, Patrick was the Senior Vice President in charge of Spherion’s RPO division. Prior to that role, he served several years in Accenture’s Strategy Formulation Practice and was President/Co-Founder of a highly successful, venture-backed financial services provider. Lisa Carpenter currently serves as the Director of Strategy and Communications for Gap Inc.’s Global Responsibility Department. She has been with the company for over four years, and prior to her current role, served as the Director of Strategy for Gap Inc. Lisa’s strategy career began at the Boston Consulting Group where she provided strategic advice to companies across a broad range of industries and to environmental and global public health non-profits. Lisa earned her B.A. in Sociology and Spanish from Colby College and her M.B.A. from Stanford University. Prior to getting her M.B.A., Lisa served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Niger, West Africa and provided investment advice to non-profits as a Senior Consulting Associate at Cambridge Associates.

Richard Crespin is a successful entrepreneur, business and community organizer, and tireless advocate for global trade and corporate responsibility. He currently serves as the President of Member Services for SharedXpertise, the Executive Director of the Corporate Responsibility Officers Association, and the Global Executive Director of the HROA. In his role as Executive Director of the CROA, Richard oversees all aspects of the Association’s mission, operations, profit and loss, membership development, and member services. As Global Executive Director of the HROA, Richard has responsibility for the HROA’s worldwide mission and operations, spanning Asia, Europe, and North America.

Larry Deeney provides strategic direction and oversight on environmental initiatives throughout General Mills’ North America and International operations. In addition to his efforts to build a solid and vibrant environmental program within General Mills’ global manufacturing operations, Larry guides the company on other EHS matters, including environmental performance metrics, acquisitions and divestitures, CSR reporting, managing external stakeholders, and integrating the culture of sustainability into General Mills’ supply chain. Mr. Deeney has over 25 years of environmental experience, the past 16 with General Mills, and earned a Master of Science degree in Environmental Toxicology from the University of Minnesota.

Yale University
Daniel C. Esty is the Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy at Yale University. He holds faculty appointments in both Yale’s Environment and Law Schools. He also serves as the Director of the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy and the Center for Business & Environment at Yale. Professor Esty is the author or editor of nine books and numerous articles on environmental policy issues and the relationships between environment and corporate strategy, competitiveness, trade, globalization, governance, and development. His recent prizewinning book, Green to Gold: How Smart Companies Use Environmental Strategy to Innovate, Create Value, and Build Competitive Advantage, argues that pollution control and natural resource management have become critical elements of marketplace success and explains how leading-edge companies have folded environmental thinking into their core business strategies. Prior to taking up his current position at Yale, Professor Esty was a Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics (1993-94), served in a variety of senior positions on the US Environmental Protection Agency (1989-93), and practiced law in Washington, DC (1986-89). Professor Esty spent the 2000-01 academic year as a Visiting Professor at INSEAD, the European business school in Fontainebleau, France. In 2002, Professor Esty received the American Bar Association Award for Distinguished Achievement in Environmental Law and Policy for “pioneering a data-driven approach to environmental decision making” and developing the global Environmental Sustainability Index. He served four years as an elected Planning and Zoning Commissioner in his hometown of Cheshire, Connecticut. He sits on the Board of Directors of Resources for the Future and the Connecticut Fund for the Environment.
 
Marty Etzel

Marty is the Vice President for Marketing within the Sustainability group at SAP. In this role, Marty brings together customer needs for IT solutions for sustainability with SAP’s capabilities, driving the communications, field enablement and coordination of programs across SAP’s sustainability globally, which numbers nearly 1000 people. These solutions include sustainability performance and reporting, environmental health & safety compliance, energy & carbon management and product safety & stewardship. Previously Marty was VP - Industry Solution Marketing for Process Industries and also led solution marketing for Chemicals industries. Marty has been with SAP since 2004. Marty also worked over 20 years at Millennium Chemicals (now known as Cristal Global), a $2 Billion chemicals producer, in various roles such as Business Unit Director, Marketing and eBusiness. He also previously worked at Constellation Energy in their B2B electricity business unit. Marty has a BA in Accounting and MBA in Marketing from Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore MD, USA.
 
Lewis Fix
Vice-President, Brand Management and Sustainable Product Development
Domtar
Lewis Fix is Vice-President, Brand Management and Sustainable Product Development of Domtar. In this role, he directs the environmental business strategy for Domtar’s fine paper segment, as well as the marketing, communications, and advertising functions of the pulp & paper business. Lewis also manages Domtar’s relationships with environmental non- governmental organization (NGO) partners, setting goals for continuous improvement. Lewis has spoken throughout North America on subjects like forest certification, corporate and NGO relationships, sustainability in the paper industry and the “greening” of the supply chain through paper. He is also Domtar’s representative to FSC’s Economic North Chamber, and works closely with Domtar’s forestry and fiber procurement groups. With 14 years of experience in the paper industry - the last eight with Domtar - Lewis has also served as Senior Director of Business Development, Director of Pricing and as a Territory Sales Manager. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida.
 
Gil Friend

A systems ecologist and business strategist with nearly 40 years experience in business, communications, and environmental innovation, Friend combines broad business experience with unique content experience spanning strategy, systems ecology, economic development, management cybernetics, and public policy. Tomorrow magazine called him “One of the country’s leading environmental management consultants—a real expert who combines theoretical sophistication with hands-on, in-the-trenches know-how.” He was a founding board member of the Sustainable Business Alliance, Sustainable Berkeley, and the California Sustainable Business Council. He serves on the boards of directors of Open Data Registry, Inc. and Environmental Building Network, the executive board of OpenEco.org and the advisory boards of CleanFish, WattBot, Green World Campaign, and (past) San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom’s Clean Tech Advisory Council (and has been named one of the Bay Area’s top 25 movers & shakers in cleantech). Friend served in the California Governor’s Office, developing early sustainability policies and programs, was a founding board member of Internet pioneer Institute for Global Communications, was founder and Executive Director of Foundation for the Arts of Peace, and was cofounder and codirector of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance, a leading urban ecology and economic development “think-and-do tank,” where he pioneered the current “green roof” trend more than 35 years ago. Friend is Adjunct Faculty at Presidio Graduate School, and guest faculty at California College of the Arts. He lectures widely on business strategy and sustainability issues and writes The New Bottom Line, offering strategic perspectives on business and environment. Friend is author of the acclaimed book The Truth About Green Business and the forthcoming book, Profit on Purpose: Risk, Fiduciary Duty and the Laws of Nature; was co-author of Biofuels Development and Soil Productivity (1982); and has contributed chapters to several books, including Worldchanging: A User’s Guide to the 21st Century, Sustainable Enterprise Report, Sustainable Enterprise Fieldbook, Sustainable Food Systems, and Stepping Stones, He holds an M.S. degree in systems ecology from Antioch University, has a black belt in Aikido, and is a seasoned practitioner of “The Natural Step” environmental management system.

Michel Gelobter is Chief Green Officer at Hara and one of the country’s leading sustainability and climate strategists, having worked for more than 25 years in business, policy, research, and advocacy on energy, environmental, and social policy. Michel is Founder and Chairman of the Board of Cooler, a for-profit social venture whose mission is to connect every consumer purchase to a solution for global warming. Prior to Cooler, Michel was President of Redefining Progress, the think-tank that helped design the world’s most aggressive climate legislation which was signed into California law in August of 2006. Michel also founded and directed the Environmental Policy Program at Columbia University, worked as a Congressional Black Caucus Fellow as well as for the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee, was Director of Environmental Quality for the City of New York, and served as an Assistant Commissioner for its Department of Environmental Protection. He is also a board member of the Natural Resources Defense Council and Ceres.

Michelle Greene is Vice President and Head of Corporate Responsibility for NSYE Euronext, overseeing the company’s global corporate responsibility efforts. In this role, she is responsible for NYSE Euronext’s internal corporate responsibility policies and initiatives, and for developing programs to leverage and enhance efforts of NYSE Euronext listed companies, promoting collaboration and cooperation on issues of common interest. In addition, she is Executive Director of the NYSE Foundation. Until July 2010, Ms. Greene served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Education and Financial Access at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where she advised senior Treasury and Administration officials on policy and legislation involving all aspects of financial access and financial education and helped drive the development of major new policy initiatives in this area. Ms. Greene represented the Administration and advocated policy positions in numerous public forums and events. She also served as Executive Director of the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy and as a member of the White House Council on Women and Girls. She began her service in the Obama Administration as a Senior Advisor in Domestic Finance focused on the financial crisis. Previously, Ms. Greene was Senior Policy Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Financial Markets at Treasury from 1998 through 2001. Ms. Greene’s professional experience includes working as a consultant for McKinsey & Co., Inc. and Blaqwell, Inc. and serving as the Executive Director of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She began her career practicing law in Washington, D.C. Ms. Greene received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her A.B. from Dartmouth College.

The Get Schooled Foundation
Marie Groark is the Executive Director of the Get Schooled Foundation. Get Schooled engages and empowers Americans to help improve high school graduation rates, improve college readiness and raise college completion rates. It is the only consumer-facing education initiative that aims to complement and support the work of the broader education reform community by leveraging the creative talent, digital and media assets and resources of the country’s top media and consumer brands to truly connect with Americans. Get Schooled launched in 2009 and has partnered on several high profile national initiatives aimed at elevating awareness about our nation’s education crisis and engaging and empowering all Americans to get involved. This fall, Get Schooled is launching the Get Schooled National Challenge and Tour. Recognizing that more Americans need to become part of the drive for education excllence, the Get Schooled National Challenge and Tour will energize, inspire, and engage Americans to step up to the challenge by learning how to take action, identifying personal educational goals, and committing to achieving them. In addition to the National Challenge and Tour, Get Schooled initiatives include: Get Schooled: You Have the Right Roadblock which aired on 23 Viacom channels and attracted almost 13million viewers (Fall 2009), President Obama’s Race To The Top Commencement Challenge (Spring 2010), New York Stock Exchange’s Ring the Bell Contest (Spring 2010), Paramount Pictures’ Waiting for “Superman” (Fall 2010), and MTV’s Get Schooled College Affordability Challenge (Fall 2010). Get Schooled will continue to identify and sponsor likeminded initiatives that leverage consumer oriented media and brands to ensure more Americans are part of the nation’s education solutions. Before joining Get Schooled, Ms. Groark served as a Senior Program Officer with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, leading its efforts to improve educational outcomes through advocacy and communication work. In that position, she worked closely with media, government and non-profit partners to shine the spotlight on America's drop out crisis. She began her career as a social studies teacher at John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx. She has a B.A. from New York University, a Master's in Teaching from Teacher's College at Columbia University and a Masters of Public Policy from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. In addition, Ms. Groark serves on the Board of Directors of the Education Writer's Association, a national organization dedicated to improving the quality of education journalism.
 
Kathy Hannan

Kathy Hopinkah Hannan began her career at KPMG in the New York office in 1985 and was admitted to the partnership in 1994 in the international corporate services practice. After promotion to Midwest Partner-in-Charge of International Services in 1996 and Partner-in-Charge of KPMG’s Chicago Metro-Tax Practice in 1998, Kathy was appointed to the role of Vice Chair, Human Resources in December of 2000. In 2004, Kathy was named the Midwest Area Managing Partner of Tax Services, the firm’s first female to be named to such a position. Kathy also served as a member of the firm's Management Committee and Global HR Steering Group. In 2009, Kathy was named the National Managing Partner of Corporate Responsibility and Diversity, providing the strategic direction to leverage diversity and inclusion, issue identification and responsiveness through engaged corporate citizenship on market development. Kathy’s tenure in the accounting profession includes a broad range of services on corporate and partnership taxation and planning, acquisition, disposition, restructuring, and international tax. Her industry expertise has centered on publishing, manufacturing, transportation, software, and telecommunications. Previous clients include Allied -Domecq North America Corporation, Emerson Electric, Galileo International Inc., Hollinger International Inc., and National Broadcasting Company among others. Currently, Kathy is the Global Lead Partner for Caterpillar, in addition to serving Kraft Foods and Yum! Brands. Kathy has been recognized both inside and outside of KPMG. In 2000, Crain’s Chicago Business selected her as one of the top “40 under 40” executives. In 2003, Kathy was named Woman CPA of the Year by the American Woman’s Society of Certified Public Accountants where she was recognized for her professional accomplishments, demonstrated leadership, and contributions that further the advancement of women in the profession. She received an Honorable Mention in the “100 Most Influential Women in Chicago” also from Crain’s Chicago Business and over the years, has been a recipient of honors awarded by Athena International, DiversityInc, Illinois CPA Society, and Anti-Defamation League. In 2004, Kathy founded the KPMG Women’s Advisory Board, with the vision to improve the retention rate and advancement of women in the firm. She also is the Chair of the Diversity Advisory Board, advancing the Chairman’s vision on diversity and inclusion.

Michael J. Hiscox is Clarence Dillon Professor of International Affairs at Harvard University. He is an associate of the Institute for Quantitative Social Science and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University. He received his Bachelor of Economics (First Class) from the University of Sydney in 1989 and his PhD in Government from Harvard University in 1997. He was Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of California, San Diego, from 1997 to 2001, and from 2001 until 2005 he was the John L. Loeb Associate Professor of the Social Sciences at Harvard. The focus of his research is political economy, trade, development, and private governance. He has written numerous articles for scholarly journals and two books. The first book, International Trade and Political Conflict, was published by Princeton University Press in 2002 and won the William H. Riker Prize. His second book High Stakes: The Political Economy of U.S. Sanctions will be published in 2010 by Cambridge University Press. His most recent papers have examined the Fair Trade system, labour and environmental standards, the ethical labelling and certification of traded products, and ethical consumerism. He has worked as a consultant for governments and nongovernmental organizations and has designed and implemented several large-scale field experiments to examine ethical labeling and pricing for major corporations.

Mr. Hoda is also part of Cisco’s Smart+Connected Communities team - an initiative to help change the way cities are designed, managed, and renewed to achieve economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Prior to his current role, Previously, Mr. Hoda was Chief-of-Staff of the Cisco Globalisation Office (Bangalore, India). His responsibilities included globalisation strategy development, planning and operations. As a globalization leader, Mr. Hoda was responsible for working with HQ business functions to implement and accelerate Cisco’s globalisation strategy at an enterprise level – to fuel Cisco’s next generation of growth, innovation and talent. Previously, Mr. Hoda was with Cisco’s Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG). In that capacity, he advised many of the world’s leading companies in achieving business results through enterprise process innovation and the strategic application of technology. While based in Paris, he led the transportation, retail, and consumer verticals for EMEA. Mr. Hoda was an editor of the recently published Cisco publication, Connected Transportation. Prior to Cisco, Mr. Hoda worked for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young where he led the strategy practice for the retail, consumer, and transportation industries. His areas of focus included marketing strategy and consumer buying behavior. He helped develop a methodology to assess a brand’s market position relative to its competitors – “Consumer Relevancy”, which was the basis for a business publication, The Myth of Excellence. Mr. Hoda also worked for Kurt Salmon Associates, a global management consulting firm specializing in the retail and consumer products industries. His scope of engagements included business strategy, process improvement, and IT strategy with global clients. He began his career at International Business Machines (IBM), where he worked in various marketing and sales management positions – most recently as Segment Leader for the Retail and Distribution verticals. Mr. Hoda was also actively engaged in IBM’s implementation of a vertical go-to-market model. Mr. Hoda holds an MBA from Emory University (Atlanta, GA) and BS in Industrial Engineering from Case Western University (Cleveland, OH).

Katz led efforts to launch the Viacom Corporate Responsibility Council which includes committees in the areas of Education, Employee Involvement, HIV/AIDS, and Green. David began his career with Viacom in 1998 as a production associate. David joined IAC/InterActiveCorp in 2004 where he was the Director of the Office of the Chairman, Barry Diller. Prior to that, she was Beauty Director for Shape. Under her direction, Shape’s beauty editorial paging increased from five to twenty pages per issue. Additional work experience has been at Allure, Harper’s Bazaar, and American Health for Women. Since 2007, under Latona’s guidance, Shape has earned over 75 editorial awards including National Health Information Awards and Gold Triangle Awards for skin-care coverage. Latona spent time training at the Poynter Institute and has a Masters in Journalism from New York University. She graduated magna cum laude in 1991 from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, with a BA in history and political science. Prior to this, Marie spent eight years working for the YMCA. Her most recent position with the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago was as Executive Vice President of Human Services and Housing. In this position, she provided overall leadership and management for $28 million of human services programs serving low-income clients in Chicago and the suburbs. During this time, the YMCA more than doubled the size and reach of their Chicago Public School Community Schools program. Prior to this position, she was Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning and Children’s Services. In this position, she facilitated the completion of the 2009 – 2011 Strategic Plan for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago’s $77 million organization. Marie also served as the Director of Operations for the YMCA of the USA, where she led and managed all internal operations of the national Y including securing Chicago as the national headquarters site. Prior to her work with the YMCA, Marie served as a senior manager at consulting firm Deloitte & Touche, where she developed and expanded the firm’s mid-market public sector and nonprofit consulting practice. Much of her work centered around strategic planning, technology, operations, and management of nonprofit and government organizations. Before that, Marie worked for the Chief of Staff in the Mayor’s Office of the City of Chicago. She was responsible for leading and solving operational and technology issues that crossed numerous City departments. Marie is currently a mentor for the University of Chicago’s Public Policy program, a committee member for the United Way as well as the McGaw YMCA, and an active volunteer at her children’s schools and sports leagues. He currently serves on the board of directors of Net Impact, an international nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire, educate, and equip individuals to use the power of business to create a more socially and environmentally sustainable world. Previously, Mr. Mohin led Apple’s Supplier Responsibility program, in which role he initiated the company’s world-class social and environmental responsibility program. He also had a 12-year career with Intel Corporation where he held the positions of Director of Sustainable Development, Director of Employee Communications, Corporate Environmental Manager, and Government Affairs Manager. Significant accomplishments include Intel’s highly successful design for the environment program and Project XL (Excellence and Leadership), a program designed to improve the environment with less bureaucracy. Before joining Intel, Mr. Mohin worked for ten years in the federal government with both the US Senate and the Environmental Protection Agency. Tim Mohin holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental biology from the State University of New York and a masters degree in environmental management from Duke University.
 
Mr. Kevin Moss

Kevin Moss has responsibility for implementation of BT’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy in North America. Kevin previously oversaw voice and data product management for BT Americas, including product strategy, new product development and geographic expansion across systems, networks, operations and channels. During this period, he was also responsible for developing and running BT’s community investment activities in the Americas. Prior to this role, Kevin worked on the creation of Concert, a joint venture of AT&T and BT, where he had global responsibility for Concert’s data product lines and worked on the development of a number of IP applications. Kevin also has experience working in the local US telecommunications environment. He spent two years working at MCI following the passing of the 1996 Telecommunications Act, where he helped build local services, negotiated partner agreements and represented the company before state regulators. Chris commenced his career with Boeing in 2001 as a Program Manager managing large scale complex software intensive command and control programs including Vigilare, a new Air Defense Ground Environment C2 System for the Royal Australian Air Force and the High Frequency Modernization Program (HFMP), a country wide implementation of a digitized fully automated Defense HF System. In late 2004, Chris accepted a position with Boeing in the US as the Director for International Solutions for the Homeland Security business within Boeing’s Phantom Works organization. Based in Seal Beach, Chris was responsible for all international operations in support of Boeing’s Homeland Security business. Prior to his career with Boeing, Chris served 20 years in the Royal Australian Navy as a weapons electrical engineer and 2 years as a Regional Manager for a commercial systems integration company. Chris holds a First Class Honors Degree in Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration. He is married with two boys and enjoys rugby, golf, football and baseball.

Prior to this assignment, Stephens, 57, served as senior vice president of Internal Services. During his career he has lead a number of businesses including Homeland Security and Services, Space Shuttle and Tactical Combat Systems at sites across the U.S. and around the world. Stephens serves on a number of non-profit and business focused boards and has been recognized for his long-standing leadership to local and national organizations. Passionate about improving education both inside and outside of the classroom, he works directly with community leaders to agree on common language, shared values, vision, and measures of success. This furthers the goal of ensuring a future workforce capable of the complex critical thinking necessary to succeed in an ever-changing competitive market. Stephens currently serves on the Department of Health and Human Services Health IT Standards Committee. Previously he served on the Department of Homeland Security Advisory Council; the Secretary of Education's Commission on the Future of Higher Education; and on the President's Board of Advisors on Tribal Colleges and Universities.
