Sir Frank McLoughlin CBE
Associate Director, ETF
Sir Frank is one of the leading voices in the FE and Training sector. He has run one of the most consistently successful colleges in the country and advised on policy development at a local, regional and national level. Sir Frank was Chair of the highly influential Commission on Adult Vocational Teaching and Learning (CAVTL). He was awarded a CBE in 2009 and a Knighthood in 2015.

Alison Morris
Head of TVET, ETF
Alison has worked in
the skills sector for over fifteen years. She is currently Head of
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at the Education and
Training Foundation where she is responsible for development and management of
the significant programme of support for providers delivering apprenticeships,
and other areas of work focusing on technical and vocational education and
training. Alison previously worked at UKCES where she has led on policy
and research work in areas including higher level skills, employability,
education business links and careers guidance.

Paul Grainger
Co-director of Centre for Education and Work, IoE/UCL
Paul is Co Director of the Centre for Post-14 Education and Work,
UCL. He leads professional development, research and dissemination on formally
assessed and post compulsory education, and is presently working on models of
college leadership. He maintains a brief on the responses of institutions and
professionals to policy change, and advises on strategic planning, management
and governance development, institutional and system leadership, principally in
the Further Education sector. Previously Paul spent thirty years in further
education. In the 90’s, as Director of Curriculum at S E Essex College, he set
the strategic context for a major new university campus in partnership with
Essex University. More recently, as the Principal of a college in Liverpool, he
created a new sixth-form campus.Paul has been a core member of the Nuffield Review of 14-19
Education and Training. He has also been an inspector, and a Chief Examiner for
the City & Guilds. His recent research has been on issues that derive from
the Commission for Adult Vocational Teaching and Learning, working on projects
to explore the potential of Teach Two, the Two Way Street, and on
apprenticeships. At present he is supervising research for the Further
Education Trust for Leadership on leadership development within high skills
ecosystems skills eco-systems.

Jay Derrick
Director of Initial Teacher Education and CPD, IoE/UCL
Jay Derrick is Director of post-compulsory Teacher Education at the University College London Institute of Education (UCL IOE), Director of the ETF-funded Teach Too Development Project, and of the UCL Centre for Post 14 Education and Work. Previously he worked for many years in adult, further and vocational education and training, with a strong focus on learning for and through employment.

Kathryn Osborn
Director of Quality and Compliance, Hawk Training
Kathryn has a
wealth of experience of apprenticeships and vocational learning, having first
worked as an assessor in 1997 with Marks & Spencer. She subsequently held
similar positions with Lambeth College and TBG.
Kathryn
joined Hawk Training in 2002 and has worked in both a training and operational
capacity on substantial contracts with both the LSC and SFA. She oversees all
aspects of quality and compliance for Hawk which supports almost 3000 learners each
year on vocational learning programmes as well as employers across a range of
vocational sectors in both the public and private sectors. These sectors include
Business Administration, Children and Young People’s Workforce, Customer
Service, IT, Learning and Development, Management and Warehousing and Storage. We
help young people to secure apprenticeship positions whilst supporting organisations
to enhance their succession planning and develop and upskill their existing staff.
Following
inspection in September 2013, Hawk became the first independent learning
provider in the country to be awarded ‘Grade 1 – Outstanding’ by Ofsted under
the new Common Inspection Framework. Kathryn has twice represented Hawk as an
Ofsted nominee – in 2008 and 2013.
Kathryn
graduated with a BA Honours degree from the University of Surrey and holds the
D32/33 and D34 awards, the 7047 Certificate in Further Education and a Level 5
NVQ in Management. Kathryn is also a qualified dance teacher and is
married with two young children.

Crawford Knott
Managing Director, Hawk Training
Crawford
joined Hawk Training in 2001 and has worked in both a training and commercial
capacity. He assumed the role of Managing Director in 2016 from his previous
role as Commercial Director. Hawk currently supports almost 3000 learners each
year on Apprenticeship and CMI-accredited management programmes and hundreds of
employers across a range of vocational sectors in both the public and private
sectors. Sectors include Business Administration, Early Years, IT, Learning and
Development, Management, Team Leading and Warehousing and Storage. Hawk enables
young people to secure apprenticeship positions whilst supporting organisations
to recruit apprentices and enhance their succession planning. Following
inspection in September 2013, Hawk became the first independent learning
provider in the country to be graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted under the current
framework.
Crawford
graduated with a BA Honours degree in International Business Studies in 1996
following study at the University of Northumbria and Fachochschule
Düsseldorf, Germany.
Following graduation
he moved abroad and worked with a number of multinational organisations in a
training capacity in Madrid,
Spain. Upon
returning to the UK
in 1998 he took up a post in the City for equity data firm I/BE/S (now part of
Thomson Reuters) working in both data analysis and client support. Crawford
then moved to global online advertising organisation, Doubleclick, where he
supported and helped provide training solutions for clients in the EMEA (Europe
Middle East and Africa) region before joining Hawk Training. He is a fluent
speaker of both Spanish and German having lived and worked in both countries.
Crawford is
married with two children.

Dominic Scorer
Functional Skills Lead & Tutor, Hawk Training
Dominic
joined Hawk Training in 2011 and has worked in both a training and operational
capacity on substantial contracts with both the LSC and SFA.
Dominic has a
wide background in hospitality and catering management; he has worked in
Switzerland, London, the Channel Islands and Australia as a classically trained
chef. He has managed restaurants and licensed premises. In 2003 he took the plunge
with his then partner and bought a restaurant in Adelaide, South Australia in
which he employed 12 unskilled college students and trained them personally in
food and beverage operations. He sold the business in 2007 and returned to
hospitality management and again started a small catering business in 2010.
Teaching and
training are Dominic’s passion and he has delivered apprenticeships across many
qualifications in many diverse locations, including London’s leading hotels to
Government departments. He is versatile, adaptable and has a keen business
sense which is evident when dealing with our key employer partners
Dominic’s
focus now is to manage and drive improvements in the teaching and learning of
functional skills, to all apprentices on programme, via online media and
platforms. He has developed new ideas and systems to communicate with learners
and tutors in order to keep pace with the rapid pace of our distance learning
provision.
Dominic has a
Diploma in Hotel and Catering Management, the advanced diploma in Learning and
Development, plus PTLLS at Level 4. He is currently undertaking the Diploma in
Education and Teaching.
Dominic lives
in Surrey with his wife and young daughter.

Beverley Capewell
People Development Manager, The Co-operative Childcare
Beverley has
been working within the Early Years and Further Education sectors since 1991.
She has held
varying roles across the Early Years Education sector, commencing her career in
nursery and primary schools, leading into teaching in the post compulsory
sector in 2002. She then worked her way up in varying management roles to
finally becoming Faculty Head of Early Years, Health and Social Care and
Counselling within a large Further Education college located across Oxfordshire.
In this role she oversaw numerous Further Education Ofsted inspections, oversaw
quality of delivery and managed complex and large government budgets liaising
closely with the LSC and Local Authorities. Education and professional
development of herself and others has always been her prime focus and passion.
Beverley
joined The Co-operative Childcare in 2014 and has worked in both an operational
and strategic capacity. She currently oversees People Development within the
Childcare Group, which comprises all aspects of formal training,
Apprenticeships, strategic Further and Higher Education partnerships and Talent
Management.
Beverley
holds an NNEB in Early Years, and graduated with a Certificate in Education from
the Oxford Brookes University, she also holds the A1 and V1 awards in assessing
learners.
Beverley lives
in Faringdon, Oxfordshire and is married with one teenage son, three grown up
step-children and three grandchildren.

Jenni Sutton
Senior Development Manager, Fashion Enter and FashionCapitol.co.uk
Jenni joined the company in 2006 when social enterprise Fashion Enter was incorporated and has seen the company grow and develop from a team of four employees to what it is today. As the Senior Development Manager Jenni is responsible for all new business strategic decisions and works across all functions of the business.
Today Fashion Enter Ltd has two distinct areas of operation - Production and Training. The Factory provides large scale bulk production alongside the Fashion Studio for sampling and small production runs. Then most recently as an extension of the already successful Stitching Academy, the UK's first Fashion Technology Academy was launched enabling learners to train for qualifications in manufacturing in a live factory environment.
Fashion Enter's 7,500 square foot Factory in North London manufacturers 7,500 garments a week for leading retailers such as ASOS, Marks & Spencer and Finery and a Fashion Studio for sampling and small production runs for LFW designers and new business startups. As Senior Development Manager Jenni plays an active role in the business support for new and emerging designers ensuring the next generation of fashion creatives receive the right guidance they need including mentoring, seminars and workshops and advice and promotion via Fashion Enter's sister company FashionCapital.co.uk - the UK's portal for the industry. The site fully supports the fashion industry as a one-stop online resource with a dedicated team of journalists, mentors and industry experts to ensure users receive a unique and comprehensive insight into the world of fashion, manufacturing and business.
Fashion Enter is also England's largest training provider for the Fashion and Textiles Apprenticeship Programme offering the Level 2, 3 and 4 pathways in Fashion and Textiles. Jenni leads to recruitment of apprentices for employers such as M&S, River Island, New Look, Jigsaw, Topshop, Topman and asos.com as well as many smaller fashion companies including Marios Schwab and Lipstick Boutique. In 2013 Fashion Enter launched the Stitching Academy with financial support from ASOS.com. The Stitching Academy provides accredited qualifications for a six-week intensive qualification students can learn a range of stitching skills and production methods.
In 2015 Fashion Enter launched the Fashion Technology Academy with investment of £470,000 from Haringey Council and support from ASOS. Opened in March 2015 the fully equipped FTA includes qualifications across the entire garment life cycle incorporating pattern making, fabric inspection, fabric laying, fabric cutting, quality control, machine maintenance and stitching. The academy is the first apparel manufacturing training academy in the country to operate alongside a live factory environment ensuring that students gain exposure to real manufacturing whilst training for their qualifications. The FTA has been created to ensure that the UK manufacturing sector continues to thrive with a skilled local workforce.

Mark Poland
Competitions Director, Profiles4Care Ltd
Mark has worked in the Learning and Development arena as a quality manager for over 19 Years. He is qualified as an assessor and verifier and project manager and has vast experience in programme management, design, evaluation and operational management.
Since 2012 Mark has been employed at Skills for Care (the Home of The National Skills Academy for Social Care) as the Quality and Assessment Manager and has been responsible for the development and management of the endorsement framework which is the unique quality mark for Learning and Development Providers in the adult social care sector. Other work related responsibilities have included the evaluation of the leadership and management programmes on behalf of Department of Health and the project management of the very successful value- based recruitment toolkit. In his spare time Mark manages the health and social care competitions for the WorldSkills portfolio. They have been awarded Competition Oganising Partner of the Year, twice in the past three years.
