Overview

The overarching aim of the masterclasses is to inspire providers and employers to think about how they can improve the quality of their delivery in the move from apprenticeships frameworks to apprenticeship standards.  The apprenticeship reforms bring significant changes and supporting providers to embed innovative practice from the start of delivery is important.

The key note speaker at all three master classes will Sir Frank McLoughlin, CBE, The Education and Training Foundations Associate Director for Leadership.

Sir Frank is one of the leading voices in the FE and Training sector. He has run one of the most consistently successful colleges in the country and advised on policy development at a local, regional and national level. Sir Frank was Chair of the highly influential Commission on Adult Vocational Teaching and Learning (CAVTL). He was awarded a CBE in 2009 and a Knighthood in 2015. He currently oversees the Foundation’s work on Leadership and Governance localism and the response to the Sainsbury Review.

Following the key note address there will be inputs from employers and providers about how they have moved their provision forward, thinking not just about the logistics of delivering apprenticeships standards, but also about how to develop cutting edge innovative approaches which have significant benefits for apprentices, providers and employers.

There will also be an opportunity to explore how the principles and practices that emerged from ETF’s Teach Too and Two Way Street programme of research and development on the co-design of curriculum and pedagogy can be incorporated into the design and delivery of apprenticeship standards.

Delegates will also learn how the successful integration of Skills Competitions into companies’ HR development strategies for experienced staff and apprenticeships can support high-level competitive skill development.

The masterclasses will be delivered through a combination of speaker input and breakout facilitated sessions that provide plenty of opportunities for delegates to explore how different approaches can be adapted, contextualised and incorporated to meet a range of different needs. Delegates will be encouraged to start to reflect on how they can apply the principles explored during the master class in their own organization to develop innovation within their apprenticeship provision.

Who is this suitable for?

The masterclass is aimed at Strategic Leaders (including those involved in governance) and Senior Managers from providers of all types including employers who are providers.
