CALL FOR URBAN PROJECTS

MATCHMAKING PROJECT PROMOTERS WITH FINANCIERS

Background

As urban populations increase, budgets tighten, and the pressure is on for cities to improve services and infrastructures for a better quality of urban life, smart city solutions tackle urgent urban challenges by improving air quality, using energy efficiently and enabling new services.

The development of smart city solutions requires project promoters to attract and involve partners and investors alike. Therefore, we have developed the “Matchmaking” service to support urban project promoters with better designing investments and projects and identifying opportunities of collaboration with financial solution providers.

The European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC) Marketplace is an initiative supported by the European Commission that aims to nurture and accelerate smart city solutions to support innovation to implementation, and solution replication and scale-up. The Marketplace’s implementation focus is on energy, mobility and integrated infrastructures (ICT).

What we are looking for

We want to engage with city representatives and other project promoters from the private sector wanting to implement an urban project in ‘smart city’ fields such as energy efficiency, smart mobility and integrated infrastructures.

For this purpose, we created a dedicated platform to get the people involved in smart city projects to meet one-on-one. Early-stage discussions between these parties help co-designing solutions and improving the opportunities of finance and, ultimately, development.

After two rounds of successful Matchmaking in the last four months, the EIP-SCC Marketplace is organising the next matchmaking session on 14 November in Barcelona, during the Smart City Expo World Congress.

Meetings will be organised between members who submit a project and the financier community. Our experience shows that talking to financiers and building connections with the other market players accelerates the path to making projects happen. The next Matchmaking event will take place in Barcelona during the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) on 14 November 2018 (more details below).

Insert information on your Smart City project with the “Project Submission Form” (this will take not more than 10 minutes).

The EIP-SCC Matchmaking team will review your project and help you to identify suitable industry specialists and financiers.
