Walking Tour of Old Montreal
(guests will meet in the lobby at 12:30 pm sharp for departure / approximate return time 4:30 pm)
Old Montreal is home to one of the continent's greatest collections of historic buildings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Led by a professional guide, this unique half-day walking tour will take you on an exploration of the place where Montreal started nearly 375 years ago. Stroll through narrow lanes and ancient squares for a taste of city-life from times past.
Walk to many important public squares such as Place d’Armes, Place Royale, and Place Jacques-Cartier and see the monuments and works of art that are on display. Admire the external architecture of a variety of impressive buildings: the three courthouses, the Château Ramezay and the Bonsecours Market. Venture into other historic buildings such as the outstanding Notre Dame Basilica (1829), Montreal's first parish. Pass by the Notre-Dame-de-BonSecours Chapel, City Hall as well as the impressive Bank of Montreal (1847), head-office to the first permanent bank in Canada Just off the charming Saint-Paul Street, discover the foundation site of the city’s first hospital, l’Hôtel Dieu. No visit is complete without a picture of the Sulpician Seminary, the oldest building of this historic district. And last, certainly not least, the revitalized Old Port.
