CPD for In-House Lawyers - Exiting the EU: Known Unknowns

Exiting the EU: Known Unknowns

Several months following Britain’s historic vote to leave the EU, many organisations are still asking ‘what does it all mean?’  A multitude of EU regulations and directives will continue to have legal force here until the Brexit negotiations are complete.  It remains unclear which of these laws will be retained and which will be dispensed with following the UK’s exit.

What is crystal clear is that the more organisations and their advisers understand of the issues, the better equipped they will be to ride out any turbulence and steer the safest course.

So while the ramifications of Brexit continue to unfold, this session will look at some of our EU legal legacy and consider what the future has in store.

The In-House Lawyers Committee of the Law Society of Scotland is delighted to co-host this seminar with the British Irish Commercial Bar Association (‘BICBA’).

Craig Connal, QC, partner at Pinsent Masons and Vice-Chairman (Scotland) of BICBA will chair the seminar.

The Hon Lord Tyre, Supreme Court Judge and former president of Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe, will focus on the legal implications of Brexit and highlight the main areas where EU law touches on commercial life.

Robert Hynd, General Counsel of Damovo Group, will look at the practical implications from an in-house solicitor’s perspective.  Robert will explore some everyday practices and processes that may be impacted by Brexit… including some you may not have thought of.
