Assessment & Review Summit

Industry as partners in assessment: continuing the journey

The call for papers has now closed. 

The Summit will be held at the Pullman, Melbourne on the Park on 19 and 20 September and will be of interest to academics and professionals working in the higher education sector, accrediting bodies, Deans Councils, industry and students.

The Summit will bring together topics of interest highlighted during the 2017 national series of Peer Review of Assessment workshops, a collaboration between Higher Ed Services and the University of Tasmania.

Presentations are invited under the following sub-themes:

  • Academic integrity
  • Assessment and calibration
  • Industry engagement and accreditation
  • Institution-wide quality
  • Quality Assurance
  • Professional Learning
  • Work Integrated Learning

Please note, you must register to attend the conference in order to be a presenter. Presenters receive a 10% discount on the registration rate of $495 a day.


Presentations can be up to 25 minutes, including questions and answers. Shorter presentations of 10 to 15 minutes are encouraged. Presentations based on peer reviewed papers are particularly welcome.

Submissions based on case studies and for workshops are also invited. The duration for workshops will be negotiated with the presenter following acceptance of the submission.

Submission Guidelines

You need to provide the following:

  • A 500-word titled summary of your presentation. Your title should be no longer than 10 words
  • A 200-word abstract
  • A short, no more than 150 word, professional biography that includes your name, title and position within your institution, and a head and shoulders photo
  • Submissions, including summary, abstract, biography and photo must be uploaded to our online submission platform  no later than Friday 16 June.


Selection Process

You will be notified of the decision of the review panel by Monday 17 July.

Publishing of Presentations

All presentations will be published on the HES website at the conclusion of the Assessment and Review Summit.
