Mr Tony Baird

Tony has spent over 15 years working overseas in R&D for major Telecom Manufacturers such as Nortel and Alcatel.  On his return Tony worked for Telstra Saturn as Networks Director then moved onto to be CEO for a couple of companies, Eaton Powerware (UPS, DC power systems), and Farmside, a satellite Comms company.

Tony joined Vodafone in 2010 and believe his biggest success has been moving Vodafone from a 2G to an IP company by integrating Telstra Clear's fixed network and moving the mobile network to 3G, DC and 4G.  In his new role as Technology Director, he really see's the convergence that has been talked about - fixed, mobile, IT, networks.  This brings real pressure to the industry as well and Tony wants to do his best to support and deliver this transition to the future and help make Vodafone New Zealand one of the first and best employers to embrace this future world.

John has been working in Local Government for over 30 years and has been at the City of Gold Coast since 2001.

The City of Gold Coast is the 2nd largest Council in Australia, with over 3,500 employees, a budget in excess of $1.1 billion and more than $11 billion in assets.  The city continues to be one of the fastest growing areas in Australia and has a current population of 542,000 and over 12 million visitors per annum.

As Chief Financial Officer, John has dealt with many local government reforms, implementation of SAP financials, the planning and delivery of major infrastructure and is currently planning and preparing for the Commonwealth Games in 2018.

 
Dr Marcus Blosch Ph.D

Marcus Blosch, Ph.D., is a VP of research on Gartner's Enterprise Architecture team based in Asia / Pacific.  Marcus's research looks at using enterprise architecture to deliver business strategy and goals, (business outcome driven EA).  Marcus also covers enterprise architecture consulting, and how clients can ensure they get value from their engagements.  Marcus also covers regional issues, such as Asia's emerging markets, and logistics and supply chains.

Prior to joining Gartner, Dr. Blosch worked at DHL's global headquarters driving global change programs as part of DHL's strategy to create a global logistics business focused on providing value-added services.  Dr. Blosch was responsible for creating and managing the programs that would bring this about, transforming DHL's business model.

After a career of 10 years in Telecommunication and IT, Linda started her own company in 2004 in her country of birth The Netherlands in change management.  In 2006 she moved to Australia to explore this vastly different environment.  In 2008 she and co-founder / director Rob were introduced to the technology that became basis for their company Droidworx – now renamed to Aeronavics (2010).  In January 2011 they moved to New Zealand and grew further roots worldwide with their professional Aerial Robotics solutions.  Linda is the Managing Director with a further focus on marketing / sales.

Kaila Colbin

Kaila Colbin is a co-founder and trustee of the non-profit Ministry of Awesome, an organisation dedicated to watering the seeds of awesome in Christchurch, as well as the Curator of TEDxChristchurch and the founder and director of New Zealand social media consultancy Missing Link. She is also a PMP certified Project Manager, Chairman of the Board of the New York-based Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts, a board member of CORE Education Ltd, and a member of the Advisory Board for the Christchurch Transitional Architecture Trust. 

 A native New Yorker, Kaila is fluent in four languages and holds a degree from Cornell University.

A former Chartered Accountant, Ross holds a Bachelor of Business Studies, with a major in Accounting.  Ross has over 20 years of corporate experience, having worked with companies as diverse as Ernst & Young, Fletcher Challenge and Pink Floyd’s tour production company.

Dean leads the New Zealand team for Insight Enterprises and as such overseas the SAM practice and engagements.


 
Hon Larry Irving

Larry Irving is the co-founder of the Mobile Alliance for Global Good.  For more than three decades, Mr. Irving has been a leading global voice in technology policy and the use of technology to address societal issues.  From 1993 to 1999 he served as US Assistant Secretary of Commerce in the Clinton Administration where he was a primary author of the Administration's Internet and technology policies. 

Mr. Irving has also served as a Vice President for Global Public Policy for the Hewlett Packard Company and is a principal with the Irving Group, a strategic communications and consulting firm.  He is a graduate of Northwestern University and Stanford Law School.

 
Mr Dave Jackman

Dave Jackman is Manager Government Common Capability in the Commercial Strategy and Delivery group at the Department of Internal Affairs.  He’s charged with leading the delivery of Government ICT Common Capabilities to government agencies, on behalf of the Government Chief Information Officer.  Government ICT Common Capabilities are a key component of the Government ICT Strategy and Action Plan to 2017, which aims to achieve a radical transformation of the way ICT is managed and delivered by government, to help achieve better public services for all New Zealanders.

Before joining Internal Affairs, Dave held senior public and private sector roles focusing on ICT solution delivery.  Dave has worked in the industry for more than twenty-five years and is recognised as a respected ICT business professional.  Dave has most recently worked with Microsoft as a senior consultant.  He has also worked with financial institutions, security, utility, and defence organisations and held the role of Director IT for the Ministry of Social Development.

Channa Jayasinha has worked at Wellington City Council for the past two years as CIO to manage a programme of transformational change.  Prior to this he has held CIO roles at the Ministry of Fisheries, Department of Conservation, Ministry of Economic Development and Te Papa Museum of NZ.

Prior to joining Wellington City Council Channa was the director Responsible for the Joint Border Management System.  A joint project between Customs NZ & MPI.

Channa has a Bachelor of Technology Degree from Massey University.


 
Richard Kerby

Mr. Richard Kerby is the Senior Inter-Regional Adviser on e-Government in UNDESA.  He provides policy advise and carries out technical cooperation missions to Governments on issues connected with e-government development, focusing on e-government environment readiness assessment; open government, open data, e-participation, citizen engagement, benchmarking and measuring progress in e-government development and establishing networks of support.
Mr. Kerby is an Expert in ICT for Development and Private Sector Management.  His expertise also involve developing public policy for Information and Communication Technologies, developing national IT Policy and strategies and content management.

 
Tony Krzyzewski

Tony Krzyzewski has worked in the New Zealand computer industry for 37 years and has been at the forefront of many technology developments, from implementing the world’s first MSNET network, building the networks that allowed Fisher & Paykel to revolutionise their production lines, introducing the first commercial internet firewall to the country and guiding organisations through the minefield that is information security.  With his career spanning the mainframe, microcomputer, networking and internet eras, Tony is now an information security specialist and brings his unique mix of skills to his client engagements.  As many conference attendees will attest, having Tony pull your systems apart for a few days is something you are not likely to forget.

Tony is the Chief Technology Officer and Director for Kaon Security, a division of MPA New Zealand Ltd and for Protocol Policy Systems, developers of the widely acclaimed IT Security Policy system.

Mike Manson

Mike Manson is both the CEO of ALGIM, and Business Development Executive for the Palmerston North City Council and has a passion for Local Government and the contact centre sector.   He has served in numerous roles spanning a 32 year career in Local Government, from IT Management to Customer Services Manager as well as serving six years as President of ALGIM.  This role saw him deliver addresses to international audiences from New York to London as well as attend an international gathering of Local Authorities in Chicago.
 
Geert Mareels

Geert Mareels, born in 1962, holds master degrees in Administrative Management and in Political Science.  He was chief of staff to 3 different ministers from 1995 till 2004.  Since October 2004 he leads CORVE, the eGovernment service of the Flemish Region in Belgium.  He is also a member of the Flemish Privacy Commission.  
Geert is the project coordinator of the EU project 'Citadel on the Move' that aims to facilitate the use of Mobile apps by all municipalities and of a new project 'Open Transport Network'.  In his spare time he wrote a novel and is member of the board of editors of a magazine on political and social topics.

 
Mr Paul Matthews

Paul Matthews is the Chief Executive of the Institute of IT Professionals (IITP), the professional body of the IT industry.  With thousands of members nationwide, IITP is the largest IT representative body in New Zealand.

Paul has been part of the leadership team that has transformed the Institute, previously the New Zealand Computer Society, more than doubling membership and embarking on projects that have increased the organisation's relevance to the industry and government alike.
 
Before joining the Institute Paul founded and built two successful tech companies from his original home town of Dunedin, and has a BSc in Computer Science and an Executive MBA from Auckland University.


 
Mr Dermid McKinley

Dermid McKinley has over 20 years experience working in the NZ and Australian manufacturing industry, selling cutting edge technology to allow manufacturers to compete on the world stage.  Since 2009 Dermid has led the introduction of 3D Printing into New Zealand & Australia.  He is a passionate believer in the way this disruptive technology is changing society in so many ways, and the even more profound ways it will change society in the coming years.
 
Dr Murray Milner

Dr Milner has spent over 40 years in the ICT industry.  He is widely recognised within his profession for his leadership in ICT development in New Zealand, including being presented with the Chairman’s award by the Telecommunications User Association of NZ (TUANZ) in 2005.  He has been awarded Fellowships to work and study in both the UK and USA during his career.  He is a Fellow of IPENZ, an active member of IET and IEEE and is on the editorial panel for the Australian Journal of Telecommunications and the Digital Economy.

After spending much of his career with Telecom New Zealand, Dr Milner now runs a busy consulting practice in New Zealand and works extensively with central government, local government and enterprises on ICT strategy, economics and infrastructure development.  He is currently Chair of the National Health IT Board and a member of the National Health Board and through these positions is keen to help achieve substantial improvements in ICT capability to the benefit of health care within New Zealand.  He is also working with emergency services within New Zealand to help improve their ability to successfully use advanced ICT, even under severely adverse conditions.


 
Mr Craig Sargent

Craig Sargent is a Solutions Specialist working for Trustwave, delivering their security solutions and service offerings, enabling businesses to fight cybercrime, protect data and reduce security risk.

Craig has over 20 years in the New Zealand IT industry with the last decade being spent in IT security.  After more than 10 years in the New Zealand military, during which time he helped establish some of the early networks and security, Craig has worked as an IT consultant with and for organisations and businesses in both the private and public sectors, and with various global security vendors.


 
Mr Laurie Sharp

Laurie Sharp started in banking 37 years ago, 20 of those years with ASB.  He is currently Head of Coaching and Development.  His prime focus is on people development, leadership and professional (soft) skills to help make a difference to the ‘experience’.

These range from Coaching and Leadership, Presentation and Communication Skills, Negotiating, Networking, Changing Business Trends and Business Development.  Laurie conducts seminars and workshops, 80% of which are to external clients, prospects or professionals as part of a programme of deepening relationships and collaborating in business development opportunities.  The other part of his role is focussed on the development of ASB employees.

Laurie has worked with the likes of The New Zealand Law Society, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, BDO, Deloitte, KPMG, Crowe Horwath, Coca Cola, OPSA, Chambers of Commerce, Mitre 10 and so on.  Married to Kathie for almost 37 years, they have 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren.

 
Shannon Spanhake

Shannon Spanhake is the Director of Communications & Community for Planet Labs, an aerospace startup in San Francisco, where she aims to empower a global network of communities with access to an unprecedented dataset about their planet.  This work is scaled from her previous position as the Deputy Innovation Officer for the San Francisco Mayor's Office, where she worked to drive economic development with innovation and create a more inclusive and equitable government through community empowerment.  Prior to this, she was at a start-up founded with her patented technology, which she was recognized in “100 Women Innovating Science and Technology” by the Grace Hopper Foundation and was a semifinalist in the Buckminster Fuller Inventor competition.  Additionally, she has worked in India, Peru, Mexico and other emerging economies to unleash the transformative power of innovation to solve complex problems.
 
Mr Tristan Stewart

Tristan has been working in IT in Asia for the past 15 years.  Having previously worked in an IT procurement role for an international bank, he then spent several years working for Microsoft in Hong Kong, prior to starting his own business specialising in Software Asset Management (SAM). 

Today, Tristan is working with Snow Software, a Swedish based developer of the world’s leading software asset management solutions, and is actively promoting the value of SAM throughout Asia.


 
Mike Wanden

Mike is Otorohanga District Council’s Information Technology Manager, and has worked at the organisation for over 20 years. He plans and supervises all areas of the local authority’s computer and information technology operations, including its document management, telephone systems and other ICT networks. He admits that his entry into the workforce was far-removed from local government. The day after he left school he joined the hospitality industry. He completed a management training course and was employed by numerous hotels, but after having young children sought an 8am-5pm job as the irregular hours his work required were not suited to his new family life. Mike is also a member of ALGIM’s Executive Committee. He assumed the role of President in July 2007 after a term as Vice President.
 
Pia Waugh

Pia Waugh is an open government and open data ninja – having studied martial arts since 1990, she is more qualified than most to this title.  Pia is passionate about improving the world by getting great technologies to people who need them, and creating a well-connected global society where anyone can play and succeed.

Pia has worked as an Open Government Policy Advisor in the ACT Government and on the dataACT open data platform, the first of its kind in Australia.  During her time as an adviser to Senator Kate Lundy, Pia co-developed the internationally awarded “Public Sphere” consultation methodology.  Along with a huge number of outstanding achievements, Pia co-wrote a paper called “The Foundations of Openness” with the OSS-Watch project at Oxford University.

While being heavily involved in a number of committees, projects and organisations, Pia is the Director of Coordination and Gov 2.0 for the Australian Government CTO looking at whole of government technology, services and procurement.
